ShowerFeeling sweaty and filthy and dirty
It’s been a long day on my feet
Now I just feel the filth sticking to my skin
My clothes drop to the floor
And are thrown into the laundry basket
Like unwanted rags into the rubbish
I turn on the water
Steam curls up like so many snakes
To cloud and dull the mirror’s shine
The water hits my skin
Pummelling my muscles
Easing away the day’s aches
My hair hangs in soapy ropes
Suds collect around my feet
At last I am clean
