Alongside the robots themselves, pilots of the latest generation of heavy combat mecha are a type of celebrity - both pilots are machines are too rare and expensive to actually deploy in combat short of doomsday scenario (in which it probably wouldn't matter anyway). As such, they tend to spend majority of their active time engaged in parades, propaganda and collection of followers on social networks. While generally despised by remainder of military for their total disregard of regulations, such as common neglect to wear mandatory combat armour in favour of latest fashion, they tend to be absolutely adored by general populace (especially children and young teenagers).
