Yuan(MC) Chen

While some of these designs are a bit old as in they are the first some of the first really detailed Kisekae character designs I've ever done. I chose the name Yuan because while i'm not exactly sure how it's supoose to be pronounced, I pronounce it U-N which makes me think of the united nations and how they strive for peace and according to top-100-baby-name-search.com means "shining peace". All of which fits the kind of character I see Yuan as. I see her as less compassionate, enthusiastic, peaceful, or serious and more of a mixture of all of those that I call determined. I imagined her as some one who was very compassionate but very enthusiastic and serious about her job and protect the peace. To this respect she usually gets paired of with Mako or gets the Enthusiastic ending which I'm okay with because I like the idea of her and Mako's relationship. I like it better when she gets Taifeng because I like their relationship a bit more and it feels more like a natural progression. I'm excited for Bolin and Prince Wu to be implemented however.

Jin Chen

I made like 5 different versions of Jin before I was happy with how she looked. I'll post an even older version of the characters when I just made the Chen family later so you can see a bit of what I'm talking about. Some of the clothes and hair for these I did make myself like Jin's outfit. I wanted to make it match as close as I could to the original design of the character. Which was hard because there aren't many pictures of her online. I really do love Jin and Yuan's relationship and love seeing it as it gets better.

Ping Chen

MrsRendezvous

I wasn't sure what to do for Ping at first but when I saw MrsRendezvous's design for the character Shiromori from the animated Mystery Skulls videos and I fell in love with it. I changed up the colors and took out some things but the design was all her. I made her look more like Jin because I made Shang look more like Yuan. At first Ping looked more like Yuan but I changed it because I didn't want Jin to be excluded. I also like that Jin who is a non-bender looks more like her mom who is also a non-bender and Yuan who looks more like her dad and is a bender just like him.

His design is very simple for the most part. I only imported his hair. I don't remember why I imported it but it looks good. I also gave him and his wife glasses to signify that they are older than their children. I tend to do this with characters because glasses are short hand for two things: intelligence and wisdom. Glasses on a character usually mean that they are a smart person or they're old. At least that's the common trope. It's useful with Kiskae because wrinkles take FOREVER to get into place but sometimes it looks weird to try and gray the hair or put glasses on them. Those methods are also limiting if you ask me.

Taifeng

At the time I couldn't find a uniform that I liked nor did I have any clue of how to make his uniform so I decided to put him in what I think he would wear on his off days. It's steampunk themed because the time period they live in is kind of steampunk-y or at least I think so. I also imagine Taifeng is more modern for the times and would wear more modern clothes. I did a bit of recoloring in some places but for the most part I kept his imports the same. I really like how he came out and the shade of blue I used for his eyes. I didn't adjust his height based of the measurements Sliver String recently posted in her activity but I think his height compared to Yuan 's is about right.

I think I even with the gray hair she looks pretty young but I kind of like that because I imagine her as a tiny spitfire. She's also has not only graying hair but glasses as well which makes it funny that she still looks so young. This was actually the first time I figured out you could change up their hair like this so it has more than one tone. I kind of went crazy with this in other character designs. I gave her a nice mix of kind of neutral colors which is a bit modern and a traditional look. I love her look the most out of all of the characters for this.

I worked really hard on that beard. At first i delicately tried to form the hair around his face but then I just tried to get enough hair on him so it didn't look like he had giant lips. I can't remember if it said he had a beard but I remember when I was making him how he looked too much like a taller version of Taifeng(which is understandable because I used Taifeng as a base and changed things from there) so I gave him a beard and some gray hair to make him look old. I didn't import anything with him which is why he looks so simple but he does have some nice features like the beard and the hair that make his design look just a bit complex.

This is the originally what I envisioned Haku to look like because I imagined that he would be a bit more traditional with his clothing options. While i have yet to make his mother or his father I probably will soon. I kind of took inspiration for his hair based off Korra's hair but I'm more proud of how nicely it came together rather than how I even figured out how to make it.

I did this one totally by myself really quick but I honestly love how well it came out and looks. I like that his hair is a nice light brown. Honestly the more I see it the more I like it and will probably replace the original version of Haku and Akemi's design as my favorite of this bunch.
