Description Another render of my new model Ferrari 550, with some interesting things... wet effect, water drops, a little bit of fog and a cloudy sky... I'd never done any of them before, but I'm happy with the overall result... next time it will be better!

Enjoy!

I am amazed and confused by the quality of this. If you don't mind me asking, did you use a particle emitter for the water droplets or a texture?

GranDosicua In reply to 5aliiim [2013-05-01 20:56:03 +0000 UTC]

No problem, feel free to ask! And answering your question... the tiny droplets were made scattering a warped sphere over a proxy of the car's surface. The big ones, adding a little thickness to that surface and applying a refractive material with the bump texture.
I guess there are better methods, but I don't know yet...

Thanks for ask!

Lovely render here, my only crit for it is the water jobs appear a bit too big.

Other than that brilliant!

I've seen some better, but I think it's fine enough to be the first attempt...

Thank you!

Very well done... it makes me feel cold and wet just looking at it. XD

wow, this is great and inspiring artwork, might try something similar one day...

if i may... just the little input... the fog lights, would be better if they were reflected on the wet surface below the car imo...

but stunning work never the less

GranDosicua In reply to PasMater [2012-12-09 19:02:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it looks a little odd to me to, but the light's reflections are there. The thing is that their place is below the edge of the image, so they cannot be seen. Here [link] are a wip render with a bigger field of view, and the light's reflections.

Thanks for comment!

your render is very realistic! gorgeous!
but in my opinion, the spills on the car are too big, especially at front glass and sides.

GranDosicua In reply to biscuit13 [2012-12-09 15:42:02 +0000 UTC]

You are right, it looks as if they had emptied a water tank over it just a moment before, and doesn't correspond with the water of the floor (there are no puddles or drippings), I have to watch over it...

Thank you!!

this is probably one of the best cgi renders ive seen in a long time, i honestly thought this was a photo, the elements are too blended to look like cgi, non the less excellent work!.
How did you get the water droplets though?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GranDosicua In reply to philphilos [2012-12-09 15:32:11 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!! I did the water with a thinned copy of the car's surface shaded with a refractive material. In the bump channel I put a mixed map with a cellular and a splat maps mixed 50/50. There are also "real" drops made with a scattered sphere. It looks easy and maybe is not the best way, but take me too much time to find it!

Mind-Rust [2012-12-08 17:03:25 +0000 UTC]

that's really cool ! how did you make the water on the car? geometry or with the shaders?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GranDosicua In reply to Mind-Rust [2012-12-09 15:01:02 +0000 UTC]

Both! The water drops are done with scattered geometry, and the wet effect with a bumped refractive material over a copy of the car's surface... I know other ways, but I think this looks well enough.

Thank you!
