Description The World Tree from Norse mythology, a cosmic ash tree known as Yggdrasil. It connects the nine worlds and is the backbone of the cosmos.

I created this for an assignment where we had to produce something we felt represented the statement "A Fine Balance".

I felt Yggdrasil was perfect for this because it has such a rich mythology and really portrays balance. Also I've wanted to tackle the tree and see if I could bring all the elements of it together for a while

The nine worlds and other creatures were drawn by hand in pen, the tree was done in Illustrator and the background in Photoshop - a fine balance indeed.

Nice, but aren't you missing the balance to the golden eagle? The, black rooster or something?

Thanks! Well I know there is supposed to be a hawk perched between the eagle's eyes, which I forgot. But I think it's the Nidhoggr serpent that's the balance to the eagle, and he's there, chompin' on the tree!
