Type U
Type U planets are scientifically interesting, as they are a Gas Giant, Ultra Gas Giant or a Super Gas Giant that for one reason or another has failed. They have not for one reason or another maintained enough of a reaction to maintain their hydrogen and helium atmosphere and as a result what is left after the rings and atmosphere have gone is a small barren planet or very large planetoid that is very dense. The core of the gas giant is all that remains and it is geologically inactive. Because there is no atmosphere to protect the surface it can be quite hot on the side facing the nearby star and extremely cold on the side facing away. These planets are so inactive often they no longer even rotate and as a result one side is constantly being cooked. The advantage to a Type U world is that these worlds are incredibly rich in resources and perfectly acceptable for planetary scale strip mining operations.

These worlds pose no ethical issues because life cannot evolve there and there are no living or dead civilizations that are at risk of being lost.
