Description Unusual 14th century bascinet design found in illuminated manuscripts. Made from heat treated steel by Maxim Suprovich of Wild Armoury.

Hey there,

Sorry for the late reply. I very rarely check this thing. I have seen very similar bascinets pop up in numerous manuscripts from the mid-14th century to the early 15th century. Fiore Dei Liberi's manuscript, Flos Duellatorum (Pisani Dossi Ms) shows a visor like this on two occasions, albeit a bit roughly drawn.

I have a number of manuscript images saved, but it appears I let slip on cataloging them very well. I'm seeing a few similar visors (since the visor is really the more unique part here) in a German manuscript from 1389. I have a few others saved as well, and I'll try to see where this one came from for you. For now, here's a link to one of the images. You can see the man at arms with the white crest on the right wears a very similar bascinet.
