Who needs sleep on a night like that? Not Ady!
Several metaphorical 'birds' were killed in the making of this painting, using an array of metaphorical stones. Their names were perspective, pose, lighting, shading, and scenery.

To a degree, it was. While I did use a brush, it took a couple passes over a few layers to achieve the overall expanse of water, from the background to the foreground.

I almost didn't rotate Ady's outline once it was finished. Originally, this was to be an underwater scene of some kind. Then I thought, "Duh! Turn it into a backbow scene." The scenery was decided by one of my older paintings, "Starry Night". The set of brushes I found are so pretty, but I usually only use them to imitate suns. Here, I put them to better use.

I'm also proud of the fact I finally drew an orca with a somewhat-open mouth. In which you can actually see her teeth and tongue.
I need to do more aerobatic paintings like this. I think my gallery's had its fill of static, floating images.
