Cynder and Spyro walked through the forest of roses along the narrow path, silence making up for their every word. Never knowing for even a moment that what they would find would change their relationship, forever.

It was a warm, clear summer evening that cast peace through the hearts of everyone. A lone nightingale sang it's last song before nightfall, treasuring it's final notes as it's lullaby sang through the forest onto calm ears. Everything was perfect throughout the realms. The wild roses bloomed through that area, every color imaginable. From the lightest pink, to the darkest purple, it was all there. Except for a single black rose, not one bloomed in the entire forest...

Cynder looked over at Spyro. "Spyro..." She said slowly, a little hint of joy and warmth to her voice. She gazed longingly into Spyro's eyes, the purple in his eyes tossing in circles, keeping her guessing. She loved that.

"Yeah, Cynder?" Spyro replied, looking into those eyes, those beautiful green eyes that were soft and then quickly took him by surprise as they shot right through him. She was beautiful.

"You wanna go to the spring?" Cynder asked, looking down at the dusty path. Her claws making light marks on the ground, she looked back quickly, there were her footprints and Spyro's two sets of feet that were growing closer together with every step they took, just like all the adventures they had together.

"Yeah, Cynder. I'd love to. You know it's beautiful by the moonlight..." Spyro said as they came to a fork in the road, heading off to the spring together. They both tried to hide the dragons smile from their faces.

The flowers here didn't bloom as they entered into a cave of light green and blue crystal that swirled together. It's beauty was matchless, even to the swirling blues and greens of the ocean itself. It never stayed looking the same, like the reflection of the water. It kept you looking at it for hours...

Spyro and Cynder reached the other side of the cave as they starred out onto the pale spring, it's waters seemed almost not to be moving at all. Everything was perfectly still as willow trees grew under the Celestial moons, they cast their light, leaving a light white glimmers on the surface of the spring. A light melody of adventure and heartache played somewhere in the distance, but in the silence it was heard as clear as if it were right there with them.

"Cynder....look." Spyro said, gazing out over the water at something levitating over the surface... Cynder took a closer look at it to discover it wasn't one thing but two, glowing things. They were dragon masks, glowing white in the moonlight. They swirled around each other in circles, at first slow and then grew quickly to be speeding in circles. They were brilliant. Quickly they flew across the still waters toward Cynder and Spyro.

"What are these?" Cynder asked, trying to touch them.

I don't know, Cynder...be careful though." Spyro said, putting his wings in front of her paw.

A white light appeared in front of them, there stood a spirit of a dragon. She was beautiful, her creamy white horns pulling back over her head, her scales were silver and a pale, offset white. Her eyes were like the blue of the sky right before it's dark, the deepest of blues. "I see you wish to use the power of the relic. Well, first you must know something about them first."

"Who are you?" Spyro asked, a little shocked by the dragon's sudden appearance.

"And what are these 'relics'? What do they do?" Cynder asked, gazing intently up at the she-dragon.

"My name is Ellumai." The She-dragon said. "The relics are used to turn a dragon into a human and back again. You just put it on and let it work it's magic..." Ellumai said politely. "I'm sorry, I have to go now..." She whispered as she disappeared again in a burst of light, gone forever...

"Now I've seen everything." Spyro said, quoting the words of his dragon pal, sparx back when they were at convexity. They were there to stop the evil Cynder....

"Not just yet, Spyro. Not just yet." Cynder said with a smile as she slipped on of the masks, that were now laying carefully on the ground, the light stirring around them like a dying fire. For a moment, nothing seemed to happen. Then The mask turned a burning white, forcing spyro to look down at his claws. When he looked up, his jaw dropped open.

Cynder was stunning, long, silky black hair flowed gracefully down her back, blowing in the slight wind. Her hair that flowed gracefully over her eye was like a fine, black silk. Her dress was a dark, blood red that billowed in the wind behind her. A cut was made up one side of the dress and it had dark red and black patterns on it. Her eyes were still, the spellbinding green that looked straight through your soul, a bittersweet glance. Her skin was pale as snow and glowed faintly in the moon's gentle light.

Spyro consecutively put on the other mask, bursting in a flash of white light. When the light wore off Cynder looked up and saw him, she smiled.

He had wavy, bark brown hair that was almost a black color. It swept over his face like a wave, in perfect orderly disorder. His eyes were the same, dark purple that swirled around and kept you guessing, throwing themselves in an ever changing pattern. They were amongst that of which the world has never seen before or will see again, they were filled with bravery, freedom and passion. He smiled at Cynder with adoration. "You look stunning." He said quietly.

"You do too, Spyro." Cynder replied, a smile creasing the edges of her lips. Spyro and Cynder got extremely close be instinct. "Can I tell you a secret?" Cynder said in Spyro's ear, her voice the softest of whispers.

"You can tell me anything, Cynder." Spyro replied, a warmth of friendship and love?

"The secret is.........." She paused for a moment, feeling the steadiness of his heart. "I love you." She whispered in his ear.

Spyro made no reply, but only kissed Cynder passionately, surrounding her with a love like she never felt before, the passion inside them like a burning wave. Crashing against the rocky shores of their hearts, they were no longer just friends, but in love. The kind of love that burned deep down inside you, reached out, and soothed your very soul. Little did they know that both of them had only been thinking of each other since they were freed from the crystal.

Something came back to Spyro, they were deep in the center of the earth, he had given up everything to save the realm, again he heard the softness of Cynder's breathtaking voice call those three words. 'I love you.'
"Cynder, you had told me you loved me before... in the center of the earth, I didn't remember any of that until now..." He said, intimacy lining his voice. "I love you, Cynder. Ever since the day when I saved you from the grips of the Dark Master, I loved you. I will love you, forever. I just regret that I didn't spend more time with you, that I didn't tell you how I felt."

Those three little words, I love you, they cut through the darkness of Cynder's night. The darkness of her own soul. All this time, he had loved her. He had fought with her and for her, for what seemed like forever. "Spyro." Cynder said, smiling uncontrollably, holding him like she'd never let him go. "I wouldn't give up even one second of all the days I've spent, dreaming about you."

Spyro bent down to the ground, he picked a flower and handed it to her, it was a black rose, it's beauty and rarity beyond compare. "Spyro, it's beautiful..." She said, taking the rose in her hand.

"Cynder, you outmatch this rose every single time." Spyro said with a smile, then he added, "Ever finding a love like you again is rarer than finding a field of these roses."
