Description May be I`m not always satisfied with Russians in American movies but what I love the most in American movies is their way to write Russian words at billboards and passports. Usually it`s just row of letters without any meaning (often it even difficult to pronounce) and the most popular letters are Щ, Ъ, Ы, Ф, П, Я, Й, И actually which are different from Latin letters. It`s like decorators try to say us - Of course, we already put AK-47 and bottle of vodka next to Russian character and glue star at his hat but look at these strange letters behind his back to understand all Russianess of situation.

Можно применить где-нибудь. Нам нужны чисто русские неологизмы
А ведь Америка русский знает. Интересно, что он чувствует когда смотрит свои фильмы XD

Haha, this is fricking hilarious. I'm Polish, so I understand this and that in Russian, and I do read cyrylic (even if I don't always understand it...), and this comic is perfect. It made me snort, and some of my coffee is now up my nose. I love how every Russian character in any American movie is absolutely ridiculous. Especially their accents, oh my god. I mean, seriously, no one speaks like that!
Anyway, good job

Just the greatest compliment I can get.xD I`ve never watched movies with Russian villains in original language. May be I find some parts on Youtube to rate their wonderful accents.
Dziękuję bardzo

It is a pretty big compliment, especially that I was sat in a café, so everyone probably thought I was mental because of my giggle attack xD And I recommend you check Cate Blanchett's accent in the fourth Indiana Jones movie. It was pretty fricking ridiculous (as if the entire movie wasn't ridiculous enough). I just imagine Steven Spielberg going "Can you tell that she's Russian? Hm... Nope. I don't think it's clear enough. We need to make her MORE Russian. Does anyone have some vodka!?"

+ Nie ma za co, you are very welcome!

I didn`t find any video with 4th I.J. where was Russian character in English and as always all my searches finished with watching 10 best Foreign movies of all timexD
I`ve decided to draw it after watching The Avengers and now I saw scene in Russia with Black Widow in English version and can`t stop laughing at their Russian.

Ah, yes, I know what you mean, the scary power of the internet...
Do you mean the scene where she was being interrogated Russian mob? The american accent was perfect in that one. Although the guy who played the boss is actually a Polish actor; he dubbed himself in the Polish version I'd hope his accent was at least slightly better than hers xD
Also, I remember watching snippets from "Water for elephants" with Robert Pattinson speaking Polish, and it was fricking hilarious, so I totally get it.

Grechka34 In reply to MimisSpaceShip [2014-12-14 19:07:46 +0000 UTC]

The boss spoke better Russian but still not perfect. The best guy was who said only two phrases Да and Это еёxD Ahahah and after it Russians have -sky surnames in movies and anime like Hetalian RussiaxD
I haven't watched Water for elephants but I found scene in Polish on Youtube, it's cute^^ but comment Słon-Polak is - xD

MimisSpaceShip In reply to Grechka34 [2014-12-14 19:24:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to be perfect, but a lot of people in Poland actually speak Russian, especially older generations ('cause of the Soviet Union, they had to learn). The other guy should get an Oscar for his flawless Russian though xD
There's all the -sky Russians, and there's poor, lonely Natasha Romanov, with her royal last name... Y'think she's Anastasia's daughter or something? xD
I haven't watched it either, but I checked out the scene where he discovered the elephant only understands Polish. It was kinda cute, although I don't understand where would the elephant learn Polish, we don't have that many of them

Grechka34 In reply to MimisSpaceShip [2014-12-14 19:40:02 +0000 UTC]

Because they don`t know how much surnames we have.xD I`ve looked through one manga and the name of main heroine was Alyosha Stalina (Alyosha is male name, at least not Stalin because it`s seems many people don`t know Russian surnames are changed in dependence on gender.)  So Natasha RomanOV for Russian ear sounds really awful. And surnames -sky and -ko sounds strange as well (of course Russians with such surnames exist but they`re not typical RussiansxD)

MimisSpaceShip In reply to Grechka34 [2014-12-14 21:05:29 +0000 UTC]

Isn't Alyosha a nickname for Aleksiey or something? xD And I guess Natasha should be called Romanova, but they do the same thing with Polish last names, they forget they're gender specific. Oh well, that's just something that happens to every language/culture when it's used by people who don't really get it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Grechka34 In reply to MimisSpaceShip [2014-12-14 21:13:00 +0000 UTC]

Yes Aleksiey and Romanova. In Cold War times they should know what was the favourite scarf of wife of USSR leader.xD As comment below says - It`s special American way to annoy

Lol I love their rivalry. It's basically them playing a game of "troll the other country" to see, if the other one will crack.

Mmm I said it many times but sometimes I`d like to have Latin alphabet because with another alphabet you type, type in English, don`t look at screen and after 10 minutes of  typing you find cute Cyrillic letters at screen and your reaction -

Hah, that's pretty bad
I hate it, when I have qwertz and qwerty switched (slovak keyboard goes with Z up and Y down), and then I have to to edit all Zs and Ys
