Description
'Shydog' is just a nickname I use to differentiate between Jacky's forms. She's like Bruce/Batman. It's just a name, not a different entity.
It takes a LONG TIME for Jacky’s new friends to find out about Shydog because by the time she reaches the Cats Way, she doesn’t shapeshift anymore.
She doesn’t hate Shydog. She loved being able to shapeshift, but she made a few mistakes and it sparked an internal crisis that caused her to cut herself off from her other form. She would rather put on that she’s wearing a magic collar than face the decision to resume shapeshifting. She’s heartbroken, but fear is a bigger motivator.
She also knows that as a shapeshifter her other form, her ‘totem’ is supposed to say a lot about who she is. She starts to question why she chose to be a big green monster with teeth.
Left to stew about it on her own, she imagines more reasons to be afraid. It takes a lot for her to figure out how to break the cycle.

Kinda reminds me of a picture I did forever ago of a character of mine sorta being weighed down/always watched by her werewolf side... either way, this conveys a lot of meaning and emotion, and it's awesome.

I especially love this picture.
First because of the technical aspects, the coloring is great, the colors complet itself, and the movement and sense of - what else? - weight is very believable and well done.
Second because this says so much about Jacky! It show the pain of having to carry such a burden, yet she is sad, the shydog is dead. All the picture works to tell a history, and it works out great.
I only get more interested in your work!

I love it when artists include the background//story stuff about their characters. I mean, with this one you get a lot of the fear/regret vibes from just the image, the emotions are portrayed really well. I love the world building aspect of the text though.

This is fantastic! This piece is really weighted; you can feel the suppression that Jacky has to be going through. And I really enjoy how she's staring off into nothing instead of focusing her attention on lifting up Shydog; it conveys the idea that this is an internal crisis, invisible from the traditional eye. And the way the piece in itself was painted is just beautiful.

This is a very intense yet subtle piece-I love Jacky's expression as she holds up Shydog. Her eyes are very haunting and they seem to draw you in-it's absolutely stunning. Not to mention, the colouring, shading and lineart are phenomenal. Well done!
