Sunstreaker can lie to himself and Mirage as much as he wants. Mirage knows what he’s about.

Mirage really wants to do right for this kid;
(in a different universe if he had found hot rod before sunny, he'd have been such a caring and gentle caretaker for hot rod, but since sunny found him first and hot rod and mirage started on a rocky start Mirage limits himself to facilitate things for hotrod at a distance, he still cares for him a lot and wants him to be happy and self sufficient!)
