I said I'd draw more...! Well... I tried?For 's, Gen 3 collab! Also, a SUPER belated birthday gift to !! I was actually drawing a spheal for her since.. I don't know if you could tell by her username, but she's often associated with the Pokemon Spheal~! XD It was a totally surprise when I was randomly assigned to draw a spheal for the collab.. thus, forcing me to finish the piece! Two birds with one stone?
I was okay with the way the spheal came out, but the background... I made an unofficial vow with to work on drawing backgrounds since they're both our weaknesses though.. it is quite obvious I have more trouble with them.. I mean, look at the Ho-Oh she drew!! Freaking beautiful!! piscella.deviantart.com/art/Ho… But ahhh, I know I won't get anywhere if I compare myself to others.. after all, I've never really TRIED my hand at backgrounds or coloring.. (other than really kiddish hilly slopes, etc) I've just gotta get there one step at a time! I guess it's another excuse to brag about my friend's skills~
SPEAKING of coloring, this was actually my first time using copics! I bought them over a year ago and I was too scared of misusing them to try them out.. but, this collab I took a part of really pushed me to try new things (also, , the best senpai really convinced me to) and not be afraid of pushing my boundaries.. which.. even though it doesn't look all that great.. eh, who am I kidding, this is a MESS.
BUT at least it's something to look back on and reflect on how to improve! I'm really bad with media that bleeds through because I feel like everything is out of my control.. but I'll get the hang of it somehow! I didn't buy these copics for nothing! I guess I'll be proud of myself for ACTUALLY DRAWING A BACKGROUND. 
I tried? Derp. c:Also, about the background... I forgot the northern lights are in the sky and not underwater... I am derping SO bad these days haha.. hopefully it makes sense though cause you know.. they're underwater.. and the lights are... idk.. what was I thinking.. HOPEFULLY IT LOOKS COOL. Please tell me it looks cool... XD
BUT YES, since this is a birthday present as well, of course it wouldn't do to exclude a word for the birthday girl! (MONTHS late, eheh..
)Happy (super belated) birthday Anne-chan! I know I already sent you a message on your ACTUAL birthday, but I only just finished this (like a doofus). I hope you like it even though it's NOTHING like the amazing art that you draw!! No, but really! Even though you always get down about your art.. you will ALWAYS be an inspiration to me! You've improved so much.. even if you don't think so yourself!! All these years I've known you and we've stayed friends for so long.. I'm so grateful for our everlasting friendship! I hope we stay friends... no, I KNOW we'll stay friends for many more years to come! And someday, when we meet face to face, it shall be glorious! And inevitably awkward, but that's okay! Awkward people like us are awesome! XDD Like always, feel free to talk to me about anything and I shall be sure to do the same.. we're both on totally different sides of the globe, but our fights are both equally important and strangely... similar. It feels great to have such a FANTABULOUS soul sister to share experiences with halfway across the globe! Love you so much! ...um, have a great day! Either way, here you go! Please excuse all my ranting, haha! No matter how much I ranted, it was still fun! Just equally as frustrating! XD
Oh! I did get around to finishing all those requests I took like... a year ago LOL! I don't ever back down on things I commit myself to.. but, it just takes a while, so I apologize for the long wait! They will be uploaded shortly!

Ah noooo, don't feel discouraged because someone drew something similar like you. Piles of cute little things are nothing original and there is a dozen of them out there so it's not like I would think that you're copying me! Plus, they're super fun to make so draw all the mountain piles of adorableness because I know they'll turn out amazingly cute in your style!

I know it's not original, but nobody else did it in the collab so I wanted to at least stay.. I guess, original in the bounds of the collab, haha! So having TWO mountain piles of cute Pokemon just immediately eliminated the idea in my head. c:
But, oh gosh.. too nice!! I don't think my style is anything special, haha, but I really appreciate the compliment!! I guess more than anything else, I do draw cutesy a lot.

Yet, I am actually somehow glad I procrastinated on commenting a bit - the last weeks were not the easiest for me and just coming online to this piece of work simply managed to cheer me up a lot, actually bring a smile back to my face and just... keep me going.

I'm just... thankful for having you. That you got through your own problems and fought your demons - I will forever be proud of you for the improvement you made throughout the years, I swear. You were there for me from the very beginning... that means a lot, truly. One day we shall eet up and get some IRL art trade going and talk and do stuff together - hell yeah, we shall! You know I am still looking foreward to that xD
As to your precious drawing - actually when sun hits the water surface something similar to northern lights can appear XD Or at least I have seen a few people drawing that! Light underwater just... does strange things~ But, the spheals, oh gosh - they're as cute as can be! Fav Pokemon, once and forever, huehuehue~ And even a shiny spheal is included! So coooooool *w*

I couldn't have made it this far if it wasn't for you. And same! We both supported each other through thick and thin.. we're really inseparable by now... except for the distance between us, haha! But yes!! I know I already told you about my study abroad plans.. hopefully it goes into fruition! I've gotta work extra hard right now for that to happen!!

It's great to see you move outside your comfort zone! You can't make great strides without pushing the boat out every once in a while ^^ Especially trying out the light effects from the Northern Lights, that was a very brave decision
If this is one of your first attempts in such a long time I'm excited to see if you can keep going in this direction! Getting used to marker bleeding is something that needs to come with time and practice. If you want me to recommend one main pointer to focus on, I want you to be even bolder in your shading. Higher contrasts make for more interesting pictures. For example a Spheal is very round so you're gonna want fairly even highlights and shades on the top and bottom respectfully.
Though it's actually worth mentioning it's barely even a necessity to shade a pokemon picture because even for the official anime the shading is kept very simple ^^ It's just a tip I'd pass on for drawing in general~

what are u talking about THE BG TURNED OUT GREAT! no it's not a mess at all!!!!!! i especially like the streams of light going through the water. it really make the whole thing pop and bring out dimensions. i love the mix of colors u used for the water too. as for the northern light it looks like ur looking up at it from under water so it does make sense! the ribbon dimensions (lol does that even make sense) of the northern lights is awsome too. it doesn't look like marker bleed much either. basically what im trying to say is GREAT JOB IT TURNED OUT AWSOME
things u can improve on: 1) you can see the stroke marks on the spheals (please forgive me if ur going for texture and i misunderstood u >.<) if u really let the paper soak up copic and put down ur second stroke while the first stroke is still wet u can get rid of the stroke marks
