Well howdy doody. So you might have seen this hashtag going around, alongside pictures of a blue anthro bird. Well, if you don't know what it's all about, then sit ye down while Papa Linzer tells you a story...

So it all started when Twitter made some branding guidelines on how their logo should be used. One of the rules was "do not anthropomorphise the logo"... aaaand then a furry saw it. I mean, what else do I need to say, right? That tells you all you need to know! But seriously though, after they (@fluffysmolcloud on Twitter) saw it they made a tweet about it:

And then things really kicked off when they had another go at it, creating the hashtag, along with what would prove to be the most popular design for the character:

Now I haven't gotten in on these meme waifus before, but this one... kind of struck a chord with me. By the time I saw it, I'd coincidentally been thinking about anthro birds a lot for some time. So I caved in to the fad and drew a cute birb, but with an extra twist. I did this quite quickly too - only 2 days and a few extra minutes this morning - just so I could get it out before the meme was over.

Anyway yes, I was quite clearly inspired by that second drawing, even down to the colouring style. This is only the second time I've coloured something like this, too - the first was Spyro's Gaming Night . The biggest change I made was the limbs, just to suit my taste for anthro avians... although the shirt off the shoulder was pretty important too. (Hnnng) I really like how both characters turned out. She's so cute. I'm not experienced at drawing bird feet, but I think they still turned out fine. And I'm pretty pleased with the perspective and foreshortening. Well, that's all from me, I guess. Toodles!

If you'd told me 5 years ago that in 5 years' time I'd be drawing an anthro version of the Twitter bird, and doing it because she was the meme waifu of the month... well I dunno, I might have believed you actually.
