Your pencils are out of this world. This is what I strive for when I do portraits. Crisp and clear. You also picked characters from one of my favorite shows. I was a medic in the Canadian military and we used to refer to M*A*S*H episodes as "training films". My father also served in the Korean war in the infantry.

Thanks, Kim! My wife chimed in about my drawings... she thought my work was too dark. This minimalist style is my answer to her challenge.

This one took me about 2 hours. Normally it's between 3 and 4. I wont know what to do with my extra time in the evening!

Mine take me about 8 hours, but I'm kind of slow when I draw. I guess it doesn't help that I'm distracted by TV the whole time. I can't draw in silence, I have to have something playing in the background.

Ive either got the TV on or some music.... I used to try to work faster, but it doesn't necessarily help me keep the quality level up. Though the one I am doing now for commission is a little harder. It's a 6 member family portrait. The one after this is a 12 member family portrait! Kind of cool to make a little money with it.

Six and twelve! I hope you are charging them enough for it. I seriously would not have the patience for that unless I was charging $500.00.

How I like to figure cost is if a person is charging $100 per 8x10 single portrait, they ought to be charging from $800-1000 for a 16x20 10 person portrait.

That is a very fair amount. It is a lot of hard work to do a mulitple portrait drawing.

Yes... and if you make a mistake, it's not the same as starting over on a single 8x10. That's the scary part! : )

Let's just say I'm glad it's you and not me having to do it. But I know you will make it look amazing. They will be thrilled with it.

Yes... I know they will like it. I try to work with the customer every step of the way (pre-proofs and digital layout proofs) so that when the work is delivered it wont be a complete surprise.

Many think I'm weird, because I actually liked the show better than the movie. A lot of it had to do with Alan Alda I think.
