Sorry, I forgot to leave a reply back to you!
Thanks very much for your insight into this piece. This place is inside a fenced paddock by the side of a back road in the rural area I live, it's not seen many people I don't think. Very magical, it was not hard to get a decent shot that morning, as the fog and sunlight continued day after day

I'm glad that you get so much feeling and emotion out of this shot, I really thank you for leaving a critique too, and hope to return the favour very soon!
Also hope that you can get back to Australia sometime!

Sarah

Haha, don't worry!

I'm jealous just hearing you talk about it! Some of the best things in life are the small things...

I really hope to go back there...and never come back

This shot is somehow breath-taking. The colors are very well chosen, because they are not too saturated. No, the opposite: the yellow-green tone makes the atmosphere mysterical.
As the sun behind the left tree adds an harmonic element to the photograph, the contrast between the surreal unendlessness of the tundra-landscape and the concrete realistic tree as the main subject of the picture is underlined.
Also the movie-look fits nearly perfectly to the image, but:
Every pro causes a con. What I do not like about this artwork is that the black frame on the bottom seems to form part of the image. I would prefer a distinction of frame and landscape, maybe the dark tones could be a bit enlightend.
The title - instead - fits very well to the image and it is the only element that lets me know that there is the border between image and frame.
All in all, great work, but the first view is confusing, through the non-existing difference of image/frame.
Or is my display not differnciating enough?
Would be good to know.

Regards from Berlin,
Jonathan

I don't usually write critiques, but I had to make an exception for this. Sarah has a great gallery and I've always enjoyed a lot of her work, but this piece is exceptional.

It's an unusual composition. The letterbox format works well here. The depth of field is perfect, caused partially by that haze and sunlight I suspect, gorgeous lighting.

The placement of the trees is also brilliant. It would work well with just the tree on the left in the foreground, but the inclusion of the trees in the background just adds to the shot wonderfully.

Some would say it's underexposed, but to me, it works perfectly as it is. Any sort of detail on the trees or the ground would detract from the impact, and the bold silhouette up front coupled with the softer shapes in the background, gives it that special something.

I'd be happy to see this hanging on my wall, wonderful work.

Unfortunately, I don't have Premium Membership to officially critique this.
However, I'll do it here anyway.

I really don't care to get into any kind of technical terms.
When I look at this photograph it makes me feel like having alone time with Almighty God.
This is like a secret place where nobody else can bother us. The colorful display in the sky is His way of saying "Hello" and letting me know how important I am to Him simply because He created this display just for me.

It's like He's telling me that just because it may feel like I'm alone, in reality, I'm not because He's right there with me holding my hand.

This kind of reminds me of this verse:

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." ~Joshua 1:9 (ESV Bible)

In all honesty, it's beautiful and quite serene.
Mere words cannot really describe the sentiment that one feels upon viewing this.
It makes you wish you were there taking this all in. You can even smell the cool winter air.

Thank you so much for this, I'm really lost for words to be honest and hadn't known how to reply to you.

Thanks also for the Bible verse, it does indeed comfort you when you know that God is walking with you every minute of every day.
I'm glad that I could give you a sense of Other-worldliness with this piece, and a knowing that Jesus is always with you.
Thankyou so very much

I don't mind, I like it a warm to hot day and sunny It has been snowing in the high country here, but its probably melted away now...

And yes, Australia is very multicultural, and Chinese NY is celebrated in the cities with large Chinese populations. I also work at a Chinese Restaurant and have been part of my employers celebrations and making dumplings and things, its very fun
