This owl is rather atypical for an owl. He's only as long as a robin (though wider and with much larger wings), hunts by day is extremely aggressive and will even eat small birds. I was extremely lucky to get one frame of him banking. This is cropped a bit more than I normally would, but it's a shot I wouldn't want to pass up.Related content

This is a great capture, I love the hawk owls! It's encouraging to know that they are aggressive and quick enough to take small birds !

Fantastic shot.
A lot of owls can be seen hunting during the day, although most are crepuscular hunters. Only a small percentage of owls are truly nocturnal.

Great action shot how much of a crop did you make, would seem hard keeping his wings in the frame .
