There is also a Beast Boy mini-series/comic from the early 2000's called Beast Boys and Girls. It goes over his origin story, which I believe differs slightly from the 80's comics, but they're relatively similar. Also, there's a story line where older Gar loses his powers and looks "normal". These images are from that.

To be fair Young Justice got alot of things wrong. For example the fact that Young justice and Teen titans are supposed to be two completely different teams.
When the team Young justice was formed BB was a full grown adult and the leader of the Titans.
So don't be too shocked that they got his hair color wrong.

one thing I don't like about the show, they completely shifted Terra's character. In the show she's a tragic hero who dies helping everyone, in the comics she was always a villain and only pretended to like them, and then killed herself trying to kill them.

Why, even the series' second season's original script called for Terra to have a teen crush on Slade in homage to that sordid relationship, but for the sake of the child audience, it was turned into subtle subtext, although Slade's comments and actions towards the unstable earth-bender didn't help matters any.
Which is why the changeling deserves someone who wouldn't willingly betray his trust and who fights her inner demons to the very end.
Granted, Raven - when under her father Trigon's influence - has her faults, too, such as forcing her green beau to morph into hideous creatures at her behest to harvest souls for her daddy not-so dearest: i8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/T…

Indeed he did. So the betrayal hit him hard. Finding out his puppy love infatuation (his first real love, per se) was a jail bait sociopath caused him to lash out at Terra II (the new writers' attempt to retcon Terra into a good character, which - as you could see from the above pic - didn't last long) and Jericho (Slade's mute son, whom you might've seen playing a lute and using body possession in the original series' final season). He still grieves over her to this day, despite tearing her zombie form a new one during the pre-New 52 timeline's Blackest Night arc, and actually getting into a relationship with Raven that spanned from 2003-2011 and is hoped to return, courtesy of its popularity in the fandom, it being canon formerly (which partially explains BB/Rae being official on TTG) and following fairy tale convention (Beauty & the Beast anyone, although the fact that both have inner struggles begs the question as to which is which: i8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/T… ), and supported by Tara Strong and Greg Cipes themselves (yet another reason for TTG making BB/Rae official).

Yes, but it fizzled. No doubt even had it been green-lite, they'd have tread lightly on Slade/Terra, romance-wise. I mean, they're not Tim Burton, who specializes in unconventional pairings, after all.
