despite the fact that i work in wildlife conservation, i almost never take photographs of wildlife.

Taken at lunch hour, quite a number of years ago. Maasai Mara, Kenya. Thanks for looking; thoughts comments and other tidbits welcome.

Wow. This looks so awesome. I like the minor color edit, makes it look like time halted and only the Hyena is moving~

But what's that that it killed? Looks too small and unstriped to be a zebra.

Could possibly be a Thomson's gazelle or Wildebeest or an antelope

So, if you rarely take wildlife photos, why do you have a 300mm lens? Or, conversely, since you have the lens, why don't you use it more often? It appears to be a good one.

talk about being in the elements enough. that is a stunning and wild capture. almost intimidating being behind the camera i would imagine. never seen a wild animal captured in a frame like this before. great work!

First, your focus is right on. Second, the detail around the hyena's mouth is just unreal. Somber, yet part of every day life. Wonderfully captured. Not that I enjoy death, but I enjoy seeing what happens in real life on a daily basis. Congrats.

What is ominous about this photo is the zebras, out of focus, lingering near this grizzly scene, yet they show no sign of distress. There's a sense of helpless acceptance of what lies at the end.

Technically, beautiful photo! The muted saturation works well and makes the red really pop.
