ah, africa! yes, she has her barbs which dig into one. many, many people who visit africa - particularly east africa - have a great feeling of contentment, of being 'at home' ... it's only 80,000 years since the peoples of the world left africa, so there's no surprise here. maybe your wife will be enchanted as well ....??
