Description Ally Sheedy playing Allison Reynolds from the film 'The Breakfast Club'.

aside* I had a little negative reaction to her 'transformation' at the end. I understand that her persona is, in part, a reaction to her lack of attention, a cry for help at its root, and her transformation is representing her realisation that she is unhappy about her isolationism, that it's emotionally unhealthy and that she no longer wants to be alone.
But her sudden change from 'manic pixie dream girl' to 'conformist' kind of felt mean spirited about her original character. I don't know, like it was throwing away everything that made her interesting.

And that's why I don't like John Hughes like 80's kids do. I hear people talk about him speaking to all these different young folks, but if you weren't pretty, he pretty much ignored you or told you to get pretty friends. Alison got made over to conform, and Cameron had to literally learn from Ferris how to be cool.

Also, I entirely agree with you on her change. Her weirdness was exactly what made me love her; I didn't like her transformation at all. :/

I love your work here. Beautifully captured, elegantly designed, and wonderfully drawn. I would ask for more, if you could please, there are very limited works on her character.Β

I agree that to me, she was brilliant without having to change, I am a guy with a vast gulf separating us, therefore I cannot give an accurate description of how her character felt, but I read a comment on youtube that possibly gave validity to the opposing argument, "I don't know why people hate this scene and say stuff like 'she didn't need the makeover.' No she didn't, but this is a prime example of what makeupο»Ώ SHOULD be. Her personality didn't change, but the makeup high lighted her beauty, it didn't mask it. She has beautiful eyes, a perfect face, and flowing hair, it was just pronounced more after the makeover." To me Allison is beautiful with or without the change.

This is a thank you, to you. A thank you for the upload, and a thank you for sharing. I do hope you continue.

Thanks man - to be honest, its not super likely that I'll be doing more on the film - but you never know.

You make a fair point. Subjectively she might be beautiful to some before the makeover, and to others after the makeover; or both; appearances shouldn't change her character's emotions or personality. A rose by any other name etc.
I suppose I felt, like others, that she had somehow 'sold out' by changing, bowed to peer pressure. But she didn't really have any kind of principle to defend by staying the way she was. I suppose I just didn't like the idea that she should have to change to be happy.
AnywaysΒ  - I'm glad you liked the painting -
