Full view please!Scanned the pages out of the second Gankutsuou manga and colored it. Here's the result. And damn did it take a while let me tell you wut.

I know it isn't necessarily what Mahiro-sensei was going for in the tones, but have you ever tried some color dodge? (actually, did you use color dodge on this image?? yeah you can totally tell I'm an expert, derp. XD;; ) Just because there's lots of cool stuff, especially in the lower left-hand corner (and certainly the Count's left hand ;D) that can be brought out more with some lighter colors. Or, as one of my instructors likes to say "you need to activate that area of the image".
Anyway. Terrific color combinations~! It all really says "I'M RICH, BIATCH." °3°

Yeah, I used the dodge on some of the gold bits too tiny for my brushstroke tool @_@ I know a lot of artists say not too, but I use it so sparingly I figure it's okay. Fffff yeah the Count's hand is a total mess, I had a really hard time finding it in the original scan to tell the truth! :U

Ooo, wait, wait. This is a biggie: are you using Dodge Tool, or the Brush Tool set to Color Dodge? Regular Dodge is kinda is verboten, like most artists say (unless you're working with a b/w image) because it desaturates stuff needlessly.
Color Dodge, on the other hand, is GODLY. It's really good for rich, colorful glows and rimlighting while preserving the detail of the object being lit. I was only introduced to Color Dodge fairly recently myself; now ALL my work uses it.
