Description I love Snape; I think he's such an awful teacher, but there's something about him that just makes me laugh. He gets some of the best lines, and I love the desrciptions of him; the way he 'glides' everywhere and has those fantastic black robes. I know he's not strictly evil, but the bad guys are always the best.

But honestly, if I'd ever had a teacher like him, he'd have been reported straight away! *laughs* (although I think the worst teacher would have to be Umbridge, hem hem ;D)

We also love Snape at #Spinners--End and appreciate your interpretation. To me it really shows an understanding of the ambiguity Rowling wants us to experience with this complicated 'gift of a character'.
Which is why it's our Feature of the Week.

I know! Wasn't she awful? Well, I hope so too...it'd be a shame to change him into a full-on bad guy. Thanks - one of my rare backgrounds! ;D

you should do them more often then!! it is really good I hated umbridge!! i wanted to shove that quill....well..you get the idea but i don't think snape would ever fully go evil....he is good at heart...even if he is a slytherin *huggles him*

Relaen In reply to greyflea [2004-06-19 08:42:50 +0000 UTC]

lol, yes, yes he is but i have a thing for the 'bad guys' as it seems...c'mon, snape, the centaurs...in my fanfic my character even likes Kreacher!! (which is appauling -sp- due to the fact that she is sirius' sister ) so yeah...bane is cool ....Firenze gets on my nerves to be honest...which is probably why i do like bane- they are exact opposites

greyflea In reply to Relaen [2004-06-19 09:47:44 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, the bad guys are always best! They have more fun. I think all the centaurs are slightly annoying with their "I'm-so-much-more-intelligent-than-thou" attitudes.

lol, they are, but, i mean, c'mon, you know it's true i just wish they'd get off their bloody high horses (no pun intended) and join the OotP to help Dumbleydore because you know if Voldemort- sorry, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named comes to power they are all dead...he hates 'half-breeds' as he calls them, so, you'd imagine they'd want to assist in his downfall as much as possible

greyflea In reply to Relaen [2004-06-19 23:25:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I don't believe they're truely villains or anything - they just keep themselves to themselves, and are a bit cut-off from the 'real world'. That's true! They'd better watch out.

Relaen In reply to greyflea [2004-06-19 23:48:40 +0000 UTC]

but they will always have a place in my heart because of what they did to Umbridge....did you know she was a Hufflepuff? isn't that somewhat...odd considering they are supposed to be nice and loyal and....she isn't any of those...just thought that was an interesting little fact

Snivellus! Yes, he is definetely one of the most wonderful characters within the J.K. Rowling world. And then there are Sirius and Remus.

But this guy has great lines, indeed... and the descriptions.. Remember that part in the Chamber of Secrets where that professor Lockhart was at Valentine feelings and told that perhaps professor Snape will tell something about the love potion... It was hularious...

greyflea In reply to kristiana [2004-05-20 16:15:11 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, yeah definitely - he has so many quotable lines (none of them nice! ) Yes yes, I do remember that! I was disappointed they didn't put it in the film, but I suppose you can't put everything in and keep it under 4 hours! Can't wait for Prisoner of Azkaban - looks hilarious.

Nah.. they didn't do justice to Sirius on that movie. *shiver* I cried three days straight when I had finished reading the Order of the Phoenix.

Oh I know - I mean, I think Gary Oldman's a great actor and all, but NO WAY is he Sirius. Hmmm, I really wanted to know what happened when he fell through that arch/veil thing. I wonder if Ms Rowling will ever reveal that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kristiana In reply to greyflea [2004-05-20 16:41:56 +0000 UTC]

I don't know... Can't remember what it was called.. that room with the veil.. In Finnish translation it was 'kalmakammari' or something like that and in English that's (freely translated) 'death chamber'.. o_O And after all it is the Department of Mysteries so I think that veil is death. It's the gate between the life and death.. That's what I've been thinking.

greyflea In reply to kristiana [2004-05-20 23:30:06 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm, yeah....obviously not something you'd wanna walk through. Such a horrible idea; but I always wondered, what did he exactly die of? What did going through that arch do to him? O.o Maybe it's something that'll go unanswered.

Oh Ms. Grey What a lovely picture of Professor Snape

I eagerly await some more 'Snape japes' from you soon, and with any luck, a nice picture of Colnel Tavington himself and his blushing bride, the Lady Tavington

Wedding day photos! Perhaps that ^awful^ photographer Mariane might be of some assistance there?

I'd love to draw some more Snape, but now I've just got too much work from uni to do 'my own stuff', if ya know what I mean. >_<

Oh I wouldn't be able to show the escapades between Colonel Tavington and his wife - too pornographic. *laughs*

Whoa, creepy! O_O But looks fantastic! The perspective is a tad off, but the whole composition of the pic is great. So delicate details and creative spookiness. Snape's clothes look really cool.

greyflea In reply to zorm [2003-09-21 15:31:40 +0000 UTC]

Yay, thankyou! I love designing his clothes, and I definitely get the impression that his classroom/dungeon would be a very creepy place to be in (although with a teacher like that in there, I wouldn't care! ;D)

rag-dolly-anne [2003-09-18 16:39:56 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Snape is a decidedly cranky bastard. A creepy bastard too. But I love him to little pieces. He really has got some incredible lines in those books *sigh* you have to hand it to the cynical little bugger. You really have.

I have a bit of a soft spot for the bad guy, too.

Anyway, this is fantastic. It just smoulders with that brooding disdain thing, which he seems to do so well. Your techniquie is near perfect, the sheer tekky skill with that biro that you've shown... Wow. So much detail - his sleeves are yummy and, while I wouldn't describe the things in those jars as delicious-looking (I don't think I'd fancy eating one of them), they 're certainly something

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

greyflea In reply to rag-dolly-anne [2003-09-19 17:46:41 +0000 UTC]

The creepiness definitely makes up a lot of the appeal, yeah. Oh, and aren't the bad guys always the best? People will always remember a nutty bad guy over a plain, heroic main guy. *snore* Awww, thankyou very much; I definitely wanted to get that sneer of his across, and the way he looks down on everything (well, the students ;D) Thanks, it's nice to know there are more Snape fans in the world!
