Doesn't look very practical as armour. They get the pick of either shooting your legs off or shooting your face off first.

Characters are more interesting if they aren't perfect. Imagine this in a video game, it'd be interesting to see the weaknesses you can exploit.

Yeah, but armour makes the whole ride more interesting if you have something to keep you from dying from one stray bullet. That's why tanks don't have gaping holes in the front.
Also, in video games, armour generally has full or nearly full coverage (see: Samus's power suit).

We're talking mechs here, not tanks. Mech's have a wide array of weaknesses such as joints that are exposed when arms of legs move. Technically the use of mech's are if anything, impractical.
That's why the military doesn't bother with them despite having the tech.
Also this suit is nearly full coverage lol. Only the face is exposed and it looks like the gun has an armored retracting scope to cover the face.
As for those legs, it looks plated.

The big difference between 'Mechs and tanks is that 'Mechs can walk. The reason the military doesn't use 'Mechs is because
1 - the technology hasn't been figured out completely.
2 - they'd be bloody expensive.
Also, while the suit may have something that comes down to cover the face, the leg armour is very thin compared to the rest of the armour, especially considering that the legs don't need to be able to move in order for this 'Mech to function.

so i was wondering ... were do u get all your experience for your dope ass mech's i mean like artists, or cars, or anything ?
i am able to draw a little bit of mecha but i just cant get these kind of sweet design on paper .. and i really need to design a few for my 3d projects

It reminds me of some of the mech designs by Masamune Shirow except that those had external arms that controlled the movement of the main arms instead of the legs.

Wow, that's really amazing! I love it, especially adding the detail of the pilot inside!

Then again, in the middle of a battle with mobile robots, I highly doubt leg saftey is on the list of things you need to worry about.
