Three years ago I went away with three friends to spend new year's eve in the mexican southeast. We had a blast and I don't remember having so much fun at any other point in my life. I was gonna crash with another friend who lived in Playa del Carmen for a couple of days and to thank her family for their hospitality I wanted to give them one of my drawings as a present so I packed a dozen of them into this beautiful black leather portfolio when we set off on the road. We got a flat tire at one point and, to get the spare, we had to remove everything that was in the trunk. Since i didn't want to expose my portfolio by placing it on the road I decided to put it on top of the car while we changed the tire. A black portfolio laying on top of a black SUV, four sleep-deprived, partied-out punks with six hundred miles to go before sun-down, you do the math. I do remember distinctly hearing a loud thump once we were in motion and thinking to myself "if it's not the tire, i don't even want to know what that noise was". i only found out once we reached our destination that it had been my portfolio falling to the ground on the way to Veracruz, but by then I was so tired that i didn't really give a damn. Of all the drawings this was the one I was sorriest to have lost but luckily I had scanned it beforehand.
