Description
One of the Helix characters introduced in my recent story, Liberation, this is what the man known as Taipan may have looked like.

Of Pacific Island heritage, he was born into a family of several generations of snake handlers. He was born with a genetic defect in his neck as the result of venom exposure in his bloodline. The defect manifested into repulsive, infected sacs upon his throat which pulsed with his heartbeat, veined and putridly-coloured. As a child he often wore a scarf to hide his abnormality, but living in equatorial island regions only made him stand out more because of this.

Discovering that the toxins within him provided him almost total immunity from poisons and venom, he was eventually discovered by the clandestine genetic deviation group known as Helix, where he changed his name to Taipan after the most deadly of the land snakes.

He quickly developed a rather violent and hasty disposition, frequently charging into fights without thinking. Establishing himself as little more than a brutish thug, he used his strength, durability and the venomous spines produced by his infected throat sacs to effectively kill all those he sought to kill, his violent nature being blamed upon the abuse he received growing up as well as a possible hormonal imbalance created by the toxins within him.

During the raid upon Amity Glen, Taipan met his untimely match as, once again rushing into a fight alone and undefended, he was shot through the neck and killed. It just goes to show that despite his many strengths and resistances, bullets are still the ultimate downfall of almost any Helix operative.
