The original song is done by Kate Bush. Then, April 1st 2003, Placebo did a cover of that song in their album. Within Temptation also did a cover of that song in their single in 2003 as well. The song belongs to neither band, though Placebo's version is more popular, especially because a stupid vampire movie used it for their trailer.

Humm-- I have to say, the Placebo version's very nice-- but I prefer Within Temptations, if only for having blared it repeatedly on my speakers for an entire month or two of my life and I find it more fun to sing being a soprano. They definitely have different feelings to them, it's a lovely contrast. <3

Still need to listen to the original now, though.
