After watching Evangelion 2.22, I just had to go draw something related

Um, just to make that comment a little more substantial, I love her facial expression; too much fan/official art of Mari sees her sporting some smug grin, it's nice to see her getting excited.

I just drew her the way I figured she'd naturally be while piloting an Evangelion. She's the only one that seems to get a natural high off of piloting and enjoys it!

Pretty cool. Mari was a bit crazy, but nice edition to the cast. After all where would Evangelion be without mental instability

By the way, was this drawn by by hand or with your new tablet?
If it's the tablet, then it sure does a job at replicating the natural look.

This was first done by hand with mechanical pencil on paper and then brought into Manga Studio and then inked digitally using the Cintiq. A lot of balancing in proportions or tests was done on the fly digitally. I should probably post up a shot of the pencil compared to digital lines...

Yeah, seeing the initial hand done version would make an interesting comparison, especially if you post it as a split screen with digital version.
That Managa studio does a nice job, I like how the lines taper off at the end of the stroke. That's something I could have used in the past, lately I've been trying to avoid outlining my work, define shapes with value instead, but still be fun to play with.

Depending on when someone saw the 2nd Evangelion movie, they could say either 2.0 or 2.22 and be correct in their statement. 2.0 is the theatrical release. 2.22 is the DVD or blu-ray release that just came out a week ago that features some redone artwork in certain scenes and some additional scenes (nothing too big to make note of).

Ahh, I see now. And yes with all of her plug suit on. There's tons of fanart out there where she's wearing only part of it, or it's open or she is 3/4 naked.
