Description
Tyrannotitan was a charcarodontosaurid that lived in Argentina during the early Cretaceous period. It was discovered and described in 2005, found in the Cerro Barcino formation in Chubut province. Tyrannotitan chubutensis shares its lineage within charcarodontosaurinae, and especially within giganotosaurini, making it a close relative to Giganotosaurus and Mapusaurus, two predators that would proceed Tyrannotitan, making it one of the first giant theropods in the region.
