A VERY belated birthday present for ! Her birthday was May 1st, and I was DETERMINED to get this finished before August 1st, I feel bad enough its PUSHING 3 months late, so I didn't want it to actually make the 3 month mark .

ANYWAY! It's Kaname Kuran, Rido Kuran and Hanabusa Aidou from Vampire Knight! It seems that Rido has captured Kaname and Aidou...since chess features so prominantly in Vampire Knight I wanted to use a chess related title....Its been a LONG time since I played chess, my dad taught me how to play when I was like...8, and I used to know a bit about it but to be honest I've completely forgotten half of it...looking up the meaning of 'checkmate' it seemed to mean the king being cornered, either with no other way to go, or all of the places it could go being blocked by a member of his own team....I don't explain it as well as the article did . Anyway, I thought it worked nicely since Kaname (the king) has been capture/cornered by Rido (the enemy! XD), perhaps Aido attempted to protect Kaname, only resulting in the two of them being captured? IDK.

I think I should have resized the picture before outlining it since the file ended up being large and difficult to work with...please ignore any mistakes you see, I know there are a few, but every time I tried to fix them I just seemed to make it worse...so I hope this is satisfactory . For the most part I'm pleased, it's the first group picture with a full background I've done digitally, and with my tablet so I think it came out okay .

You can decide if its blood or rust on the chains, I purposely made it look a little like it could be either .

The bricks on the back wall were a texture I had, but I did go over each brick adding more shadow, light, dirt and moss to try and make them stand out a little more .
