Yes, it's been slang for semen for a long time... Which is why so many of the Tumblr selfies with those mugs amuse me.
Feminists kind of, er, Inigo Montoya'd it ("You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.") and started using it without looking into it, it seems.
Even more disturbing- there's mugs that say "Unicorn Tears" on them. Which is even grosser than the human implication of "Male Tears."
Also, a minor edit- My second paragraphy thing wasn't meant to be like, some huge anti-feminist insult or anything and I apologize if it seems as such. That just happens to be the group where some of the members started using the term and buying the mugs.

I like the idea of "unicorn tears" - there You have to think twice about it and it's a funny description. Yes, there're many selfies with it when I researched a font for the words, so I had no idea of the other meaning. My first and only thought was about the thousands broken male hearts. In the end it's the same principal, but no romance anymore. Hm...

Well, I mean, with the core foundation of the term being semen- it still kind of can be somewhat like the broken hearts deal? Because sex =/= love, and you can kind of maybe work with that somehow? Might have to grasp at straws for a bit, or do some meaning searching, but I think you can still pull something from it!Β
