This is a nice piece!

I like how it almost looks as if the shadow's going to crumble. To me at least!

i was planning that but it was a studio copy of a bigger piece done by the original artist so i abandoned the plan...no worries

oh so nice, is it really charcoal? i never get such a black parts with charcoal! such a wonderfull strenght (i think you say it like that) between the black and the white! escpecially the face, it doesnt look like just a drawing, it looks like a touchable statue or something..

thank you my dear...Vicente manansala was a master painter...Ive learned a lot from his works, especially his cubist and quasi surrealist works...his theory on the push and pull of the objects was outstanding...he was also a master of composition and perspectival depth using flat analytical forms...he was a student at the Ecole De Beaux Arts in Canada, a student of Maurice De vlaminck, and the number one supporter of Picasso in our country...he was the first true modern filipino artist....the negative space in this work is as important as the positive...the interplay creates the illusion of solidity...
