Description FULL VIEW PLEASE!
Its a must!

Drawing: Me.
Photo: Me.
Post. Pros: Me.
Done: March 11th 2012

A rose inside a heart, found it in a tat
mag about 4-6 yrs ago and since it's so
traditional, I knew I had to draw it

Done with sharpies and a bit of pencil.

I've been drawing tattoo designs lately,
trying to get back into the style so I can
prepare a booklet of my designs so I can
sell them to a few shops around where
I live, a tattoo artist friend told me how
to do it and I plan too, next month or so.

If you are interested in this
design or want a custom design drawn,
please note me. Fyi, I charge for designs.

I hope you all dig this photo!

From afar it looks more like an explosion than a rose.

It's very much old school style and I mean old as in the likes of tattoo artists like Sailor Jerry Swallow. I love old school tattoos.

I think that old school tattoos tend to tell more of a tale, although most people to day will say things like 'Oh I had this done in memory of my mum/ dad', a lot of modern tattoos don't conform to the structured semiotics of old school tattoos.

Yeah, I have heard that. I love that whole
time period, so my parents have nothing to do
with it but my traditional pieces my mother
usually loves a lot more. They are classy

People always say that Punk never really contributed to the arts in any great way, there is no real memorable art from it. However we all accept that Da Vinci is a great artistic master but the average person can only name at most two pieces by him. In response to people pulling Punk down as an art school/movement most people can name just as many pieces by Vivian Westwood, everybody knows the Boobs t-shirt and the Anarchy in the UK t-shirt.

The only difference between the Di Vinci pieces and the Westwood pieces is her's are prints, his are a painting and a drawing. All four pieces are commercially avaliable as prints. Who is to say which is more classy, I am a traditional medium artist myself but I do see the validity of print as an artistic medium.

I agree with everything you said
Then those people don't know what they are talking
about, because I believe that the whole punk movement
was art, raw and wild art. In all forms too. Music,
style, attitude, everything oozed with beauty to me.
Art is all about who is viewing it, or who is listening
to it also. People will call anything art these days.

I consider the Di Vinci pieces to be amazing and legendary
but I also think the art world has come a long way and new
things can be the art of this time It doesn't mean that
art of today cancels out the art of the legends

I think one of the most imporant points about the punk movement is that it is what is refered to as a primative art movement. What that actually means is that the artists are unschooled that does not however make them any less skilled than a so called schooled artist. It is the main reason that Punk art is Raw and is alive and vital, the biggest problem I personaly find with schooled art is the spontenaity is lost it becomes sterile and dead.

At the time of Da Vinci oil paint portrature was still new so it hadn't become overworked and draged to that point of visual sterility. They were still learning how to use the materials how to compose the overall image it was still an adventure.
