Description
A request from MightyMorphinPower4:Barbara Gordon finds herself in the clutches of The Joker and Harley Quinn. Does The Joker intend to use her safety as a blackmail chip against her father, Police Commissioner Gordon? Or has he discovered her most precious secret? And Harley clearly isn't thrilled with the way The Joker is pawing Barbara. Will she act on her feelings, and against which person?
Sort of swiped the plot for this picture from Yvonne Craig's debut on the old, despised (by me) Batman TV series. Although I hate the show for making Batman a laughing stock for decades, it had a few memorable elements. Julie Newmar's Catwoman was one. Yvonne Craig's Batgirl was another. Just sub Penguin for The Joker and you've got Batgirl episode one. And, of course, Joker is hidden in YET ANOTHER abandoned toy factory in Gotham (hi, Nomad). But I actually enjoyed that episode.
And, just to drag everybody down, Yvonne Craig was 73 on May 16. God, I'm old. . .

Great pic... Was the odd angle of the shot meant to capture the feel of the old TV show (which often shot on an angle instead of straight on for some reason)? If so, very clever and well-done. If not, I guess you subconsciously absorbed more of the show than you realized!

Sub-conscious, mostly. I used the odd angle just because I'd done a run of "damsel tied in chair" pictures and I wanted a different look. Plus, the angle emphasizes "the undercurrent of looming menace from Harley", since she's the tallest figure in the shot at that angle. It was after I began reminiscing about Yvonne Craig that I realized that odd angle shot was a trademark of the old TV show.

That was back in the days when comics were dumb and TV was in its adolescence. But don't we all yearn to keep a small part of that alive in ourselves? The cameraman must have been laying on his side to film at that angle.

awssome pic Yvonne Craig now i feal old i was in a old hotell back in the 90s i was young at the time but i found the one old ep where batgirl is tied up and gag by catwoman it was a amazing ep never forgot about it xd..
did you know that Yvonne Craig was tied up and gag again in a tv movie some one ask her what did you have to do to get in to the roll she sead thay tied me up and left for lunch.... oh the off camer clips had to be good i bet wounderd if thay did the same for that old batman clip as will??..bye all

But my God... Yvonne Craig. Add to that the role she had as a green woman on Star Trek (back when women were about curves and not geometry) and you have decades of fetish fuel unleaded for so many.

Burton was seeking a "strange" vibe. His work was too S&M and too dark and the casting was off. Other then that I liked it

Rumor has it Adam West approached Tim Burton when he was directing the 1989 Batman to appear as Bruce Wayne's father. Burton declined apparently not wanting Mr. West anywhere NEAR the set to avoid "camp" rumors.

I'd heard that he also approached Burton wanting to play Batman himself. Thankfully that never happened.
