Wow, at first glance I thought you'd submitted a screen shot, until I read the title. This is quite well done and accurate!

Thanks! I had to ask whether it counted as a screenshot but my main goal was to provide a large and accurate Mario 1-1 picture that someone could use for whatever.

It turned out very well! As a vector artist myself, I know how challenging - and fun - this would be. Tempts me to try it out myself on a different screenshot.

Oh, and thanks for the faves!

Yeah I was hoping to keep the "pixel" aspect of the game while still crisping everything up, but you should definitely go for it, it is very satisfying to see a high res image of a favorite game. What game would you consider vectoring might I ask?

Also no prob, your gallery is very great I especially liked the "Bomb-Omb Tank" the steampunk feel of it was really awesome.

Well, if I did do this, it'd be some time from now.
I'd likely do one from Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins. That game is often overlooked.

Ah, Steampunk fan huh? I actually wish I'd put more Steampunk material up. I even had a story in my head at one point, but it's hard to concentrate on any one thing when you have so many interests...

Ah yes, the Six Golden Coins, the first introduction of Wario, that was another excellent game, I might do a vector of the boss battle in the...moon level I believe where the final boss in this game comes up again. I wish you luck and look forward to seeing your work.

Yes I do know your quandary well, I'm often split a lot of different ways as well. Any Steampunk related work is awesome though, it seems to be a newer form of art since it is hard to find a lot of decent works. Be sure to keep me posted on that though, you make some really great stuff.

Yeah, Tatanga is the boss in the moon stage. I believe the manual for SML2:SGC actually states that Wario hired Tatanga as a distraction while he invades Mario's castle, setting off the events of SML2. Pretty neat how they added the continuity.

I do adore Steampunk, but find my other interests take prevalence over it - especially Mario, which I'm known for on dA. However, my wife gave me a great idea: make one or more new dA accounts - like she recently did - to concentrate on other, non-Mario interests. Perhaps one of them will be steam only?

Speaking of which, my next deviation will actually be steam-related, somewhat. I found this amazing stein mug at a thrift store today, entirely steam engine themed. I'm making a photo collage of it tonight.

Tatanga that's it! I could not remember that guy's name, yeah I remember the manual saying something like that, I do like how they actually decided to make it a sequel unlike the Mario Worlds which had nearly nothing to do with each other.

That sounds like an excellent idea, it would definitely be more appealing to a different range of people while still keeping your more well known Mario fans happy.

Ooh nice! I have to say steam engines definitely capture the (soul?) of the steampunk artistry since they are often the ones used to model other creations.

Yes, Mario and Zelda have always had continuity problems. I've always figured that Miyamoto just doesn't care to connect them. Just wants to make games that are fun, and not to be taken too seriously. On the other hand, it's a different team that makes the Wario series, and throughout the games you see little hints of extra effort. Perhaps they also care more for continuity, among other things.

Well, my new train/steam/mechanical themed account is made, as you no doubt know from my latest deviation.

Oh yeah, and steam engines are a sort of link between historical reality and steampunk fantasy.

Yeah, although Wario Land 4 and Shake It don't seem to have anything to do with the first three that seem to at least be around the same thing.

Yeah, but neither do they contradict, right? Wario is just continuing his treasure hunting schemes.

Fair point, although he did unintentionally rescue a princess in Wario Land 4.

Just some ironic humour I'd say, really doesn't effect the story line, just a "black mark" on his treasure hunting record.

It is funny that depending on the amount of treasure boxes you defeat...whatever that boss could be called the princess will end up prettier or uglier.

I totally agree, it also has my favorite level and credits songs I've ever heard (maybe just nostalgia factor but still).
