Does my writing also make you reach for a donut?
Heehee.
Thanks for the comment.

Haha, well, that's my intention: To make people fat! And by reaching for donuts when you read my writing, you make me very proud of myself.
Thank you.

It's okay. There is indeed beauty in all humans. This was written from a very specific perspective and not necessarily one I agree with.
And believe me, if you keep eating like that, eventually, your metabolism will slow down and you'll cover those collarbones and ribs with some nice meaty soft fat. Go ahead, and see if I'm not right in about five years or so.

I am body-positive, and I appreciate what you say here.
This expresses a very specific perspective -- and not necessarily my own.
Indeed, I find beauty in all people. It's a wonder that we are even alive, you know. The grace of gods and goddesses keep us going, and for that, all are beautiful -- not matter shape, size (or lack of size).
I am a poet and writer, and I often explore viewpoints beyond my own.
Thanks for keeping me honest and exploring my notions of beauty.

Without wishing any ill anywhere, I respectfully disagree. There is beauty, or the potential for it, in almost every person on the planet. But NO body type is inherently beautiful outside of what psychologists seem to find as a cross-cultural human ideal.
However, I can find little-to-no beauty physically in what has been called 'starvation chic'. Slender or, if you prefer, skinny, women can be beautiful, but there is little to find beautiful in emaciation. My background is as an historian, and thus the long term damage done by underfed slenderness seldom appeals. I realize that this seems to be a special case, but, historically, it was common enough to kill millions, and that I cannot approve.

Absolutely! I think of Callista Flockhart (her first name may be mis-spelled). Just naturally slender, and quite pretty. But, and this is equally true of the very overweight, that's rather the exception.
Admittedly, my preferences run to more weight rather than less, so I may tend to be more forgiving of any perceived flaws in those cases. But severe underweight is just as serious a health problem as its opposite extreme, and one far more vulnerable to deficiency diseases.
A further feature of my dislike that way is that the fashion industry has been historically prone to idealizing women who are, in medical terms, severely underweight, particularly in its promotion of the fashion model as a positive goal for women to achieve in respect to body types. It's neither healthy nor realistic. Most women are neither tall enough nor naturally slender enough to be one. And, what's worse, those clothes don't fit most women, or look awful on them when they try to wear them. With exceptions, most fashion models have neither the bustline or the hips that are requisite to normal childbearing. (My own mother nearly died as a result of one of these complications, and she was 5-feet, 7-inches tall at 120 pounds, which is shorter AND heavier than model standards, and is technically underweight for a woman with an average bone structure.) And she had trouble adding weight her entire life, even when she needed to.

Many of my stories and poems deal with this topic and are size-positive. Hope you will read more of my stuff. Here are a couple suggested ones:
There is Nothing More Sensual (a poem):

Lust and Love (a poem):

"Imagine" explains well the joy of letting go and eating and growing fat:

The following one is quite erotic, so if you don't like this kind of thing, well, uhm, don't lick. It's called "Hot Fudge Cake":

This poem gets right down to the point. I really worry about my mother sometimes. She's 5'0 120lbs and wants to lose more weight. But she's really skinny already. She diets and works out all the time. It just makes me mad that she doesn't see how beautiful she is. Everyone else does except her. She's borderline on anorexic literally... :/

It is societal pressures that cause many like your mother to become quite ill.
The more we express that thin-worshippers are not the majority, the better life will be for all of us.
I wish you and your mother well. I am glad you can appreciate this poem.

Probably a little over the top of me but your poem makes me want to listen to one of my favorite songs: My Funny Valentine. And the song as your poem, touches me so because it's about being in love so deeply and honestly that imperfections are not simply overlooked but loved as well.

What if we all looked the same? Or what if we all met some pre-determined desirable appearance? I think this is the question I like to explore, and you do so wonderfully here in your comments.
It is often the "odd" or "unusual" or "funny" thing about a person -- whether physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, whatever -- that truly makes us smile and love, love, love.
I really love that song -- "My Funny Valentine"... gosh, I'm old, haha.
Love your comments. Have a great weekend!

I sound like a broken record to myself when I say this, but I like girls with some meat on their bones. I though America was the country that wants everything bigger, not smaller. I just hate seeing picture of girls who are quite literally stick-thin; they look like they would snap in two if you hug them too hard. Seriously, who wouldn't want a girl who, oh I don't know, LIKES TO EAT??????
Alright I'm going to stop myself before I get out of control here.

I see beauty everywhere and it hurts me that other people are unwilling to do the same. I've always been the tallest/thinnest girl in class and that was just as bad as being the 400 lbs girl. That only changed when I started taking ballet classes and being thin was encouraged.
It's amazing that you love women that unfortunately are not perceived as what they are -- beautiful -- but I don't think I should hate myself for not being "average" or overweight. I love my body, it's perfect the way it is.

It's good to keep an open mind, leaves less room for ignorance and stupidity. I try to keep an open mind myself because I want to try and gain other perspectives on certain things; and again, be less ignorant.

What a great discussion!
I particularly appreciate musicandcupcakes's comment: "Beauty is subjective and ever-changing."
I think that may well be my slogan in life because my own ideas about what is beautiful are ever-expanding and changing, it seems. The same with what I find sensual or sexy. Let us keep our brain cells (and all our other cells) fired up for change, whatever may come.

This is the kind of "broken record" which needs to be heard again and again.
And again.
Too many women (and men) are cowed by the idea that thin is better and thinner is even better than that.
Let's speak up for what is right.
The whole thin-worshipping society is out of tune with biology. Can you imagine another species of mammals where the males would prefer bony females? Or vice versa. Imagine a stallion or bull preferring a mare or cow with their ribs showing. It goes against basic biology.
I appreciate your comments.
