Description
In the early 1960's, Mongolia had its first recorded monster event in the modern age. Massive earthquakes in the Gobi Desert heralded the emergence of a living mountain, pulled along the rocky sands by eight monstrous serpents and leaving a colossal dust cloud in its wake. Evacuations were swiftly ordered for all standing settlements in its path, and the Chinese military mobilized to intercept the monster. Despite a days-long aerial bombardment, the monster showed no signs of slowing. At the Soviet border, it tunneled back underground and disappeared. Battle projections predicted the monster was heading for Lake Baikal. Extensive surveys of the lake by USSR scientists did not turn up any sign of the monster in the area. However, water levels in the lake showed an abnormal decline in the following years.
