Description If Monster Island is the size of Texas, the swampland covers an area roughly the size of Vermont. The dense forests surrounding it entrap humidity released by the swamp water, which itself is heated by subterranean magma chambers. While some outsiders occasionally visit to hunt or enjoy the humidity and warm waters, few call this biome home.

Monster Bio: King Cobra
Length: 286 meters

King Cobra is not a natural mutation, but rather the result of experiments by the French General Directorate for External Security in French Polynesia. Several successful specimens were relocated from the island before Komodithrax arrived, including King Cobra, but the giant mutated snake escaped its confines and fled into the world. Several years later, Junior encountered King Cobra in the Siberian wilderness. Junior sustained his most grievous injuries from any monster battle from King Cobra, and its acidic saliva made standard containment with H.E.A.T. less than ideal. G-Force agreed to relocate the giant serpent to Monster Island, where it immediately settled into the swampland area. King Cobra prefers the uniquely, abnormally high humidity of the swamps than any other environment on the island, and he defends his territory fiercely. Few other monsters in the swampland biome pose a threat to his dominance, but King Cobra tolerates occasional visits from Godzilla and Titanosaurus.

Powers/Abilities:
Speed
Acidic Saliva/Projectile Spit
Fangs
Venom
Powerful Constrictor

Monster Bio: Demeking
Height: 28.7 meters (to eyestalks)
Length: 58 meters (head upright)

Some monsters just don't make sense. Demeking is one of them. They look like snails, but protuberances on their shells look like geothermal vents. Rather than a standard snail or slug head, demeking have an animal-like head with two eye stalks. A simple mouth-like orifice is constantly agape, but is not used in the consumption of food. Rather, it combines organic matter with its own chemical body processes to produce fuel to expel fireballs. With such a unique ability, demeking would appear to be well suited to life on land. This is not the case. The high humidity allows demeking to survive above ground, but they are more commonly found underwater. And not just underwater, but at the very bottom of the ocean, feasting off the rich chemical soup which spews from actual geothermal vents along the seafloor. How and why these unusual creatures make their way to the swamp - where they are often subject to predation or even dehydration - is still a mystery to G-Force.

Powers/Abilities:
Durable Shell
Fire Breath

Monster Bio: Death Jackal
Height:17.7 meters
Length: 49 meters

The velociraptor to Godzilla's tyrannosaurus rex. Death jackals are typically pack hunters, but either hunt alone or in pairs when not pursuing larger prey. These monsters are some of the most intelligent on Monster Island, capable of problem solving, strategizing, and planning. Younger death jackals are more comparable in size to un-mutated dinosaurs, and as such can pose more of a direct problem to humans. They are prolific hunters and help keep the smaller, faster-breeding predators in check. Death jackals are exclusive to Monster Island. They prefer the swampland, but can also be found in the dense Super-Forest as well. It is believed they prefer the more densely-wooded areas to hunt in. When traversing from one environment to another, death jackals have a limited ability to change their colors to better blend in. If Godzilla stays too long in the swamps, death jackals tend to taunt him and will even try playing pranks on him to get him to leave.

Powers/Abilities:
Intelligence
Camouflage
Sharp Claws

Monster Bio: Psycho Vulture
Wingspan: 64 meters

Many flying species on Monster Island were chased off or hunted to extinction by Rodan. Others escape his wrath for one reason or another. The sub-zero manta taste bad and interfere with his bio-volcanic physiology, and Rodan gives them a wide berth. Gimantis and meganeura reproduce faster than he can eat them. And then there's the psycho vulture. If a thundercloud f#$%ed a honey badger, the psycho vulture might be the result. Psycho vultures are fearless and will attack any living thing for any reason. Or no reason. They are tirelessly resilient and don't ever seem to sleep. Psycho vultures also have a unique ability for such a relatively small animal - they can fire bolts of electricity from their mouths to stun or kill prey. They are solitary monsters, only gathering during their mating season. Males and females will remain coupled to rear their young until they can fly, which is achieved within the first year of life. Psycho vultures pose a specific threat to humans - they possess an electro-sensory organ which they use to locate others of their species to mate or compete for territory, but this organ allows them to easily locate human settlements or civilizations. They don't prey on humans, but they are plenty dangerous without wanting to eat them. In a pinch, psycho vultures are easily distracted by brightly colored or shiny objects if a quick getaway is needed.

Powers/Abilities:
Nimble Fliers
Temper
Electric Bolt Projection
Electro-Sensory Organ

Monster Bio: Swamp Beast
Height: 65 meters

This monster shares some features with a number of creatures, some of the more observable are the suriname sea toad and the great diving beetle. This monster is physically weak - by monster standards - but does not draw the attention of predatory monsters which might otherwise accost it. Even King Cobra doesn't mind sharing its territory with this unusual monster. Swamp Beast can excrete a foul-smelling mud from the pores on its back. The pores can also produce a thick fog which it can use to hide itself when it feels threatened. Swamp Beast thrives on a steady diet of supershad and aquatic foliage.

Powers/Abilities:
Odorous Mud Excretions
Thick Fog Emission

Also Featured:

Titanosaurus
Titanosaurus doesn't like to stray too far from water, so when he pops into Monster Island for a visit he usually heads right for the swamp. The plentiful stock of aupershad keeps him well fed, and other monsters give him a wide berth. G-Force believes that the apparent non-aggression pact between Titanosaurus and King Cobra is due to their non-competing diets. King Cobra doesn't eat Supershad, and therefore may not see Titanosaurus as competition for resources.

Meganeura
While the adult form of meganulon are found everywhere on Monster Island, save the frozen tundra, the nymph stage of this monster is born in the tepid swamp water. Adults lay eggs underwater in large clutches, and nymphs spend the earliest period of their lives submerged, feasting on decaying organic material. Once large enough, meganulon will venture onto land for the remaining year or so of their nymph stage until they metamorphose into the adult meganeura. Adult meganeura draw blood from death jackals and visiting kamoebas. King Cobra is too volatile to be a worthwhile target, and the Swamp Beast's flora-fauna physiology makes its blood unsuitable for consumption. Most other monsters that dwell in the swamp are too small to be viable prey, and so meganeura leave the swamp for easier targets like rhinosaurus, but in doing so give up the protection the swamp affords them from Rodan.

Supershad
These monster-fish find the swamp waters to be suitable breeding grounds, and will voyage to the swamps in massive numbers each year to spawn. Many of these fish remain in the swamps rather than return to the ocean, where they feed on meganulon nymphs, super-plankton, and the abundance of underwater plants. In turn, supershad make up a main staple of this biome's food chain.

Gimantis
Unlike meganeura, gimantis are not picky egg-layers. They can be found in any biome on Monster Island. In the swamps, mantis flourish thanks to the readily available supply of mutant rats. The dense foliage allows them to operate with peak efficiency as ambush predators where they also hunt meganeura, supershad, and even the occasional kamoebas. Because gimantis are not too bright, they will often pick fights with psycho vultures. The winged monsters are quick to band together against anything foolish enough to attack one of their own kind, and the unwitting gimantis will find itself electrocuted and eaten by dozens of psycho vultures.

Mutant Rat
These monsters thrive in the swamplands. There are plenty of nooks and crannies where larger predators can't reach them, and plenty of monster nymphs and supershad for them to prey on. Despite their quick wit and quicker reflexes, they have few natural defenses and make easy prey for any other monster with a taste for flesh.

Kamoebas
These colossal tortoises can be found anywhere on the island. They enjoy the warm waters of the swamp where fish and aquatic plants are plenty. King Cobra can't eat adult kamoebas - their shells are too wide for his jaw to wrap around, and too spiky for his digestive tract - and so he leaves them alone. Since this biome's resident apex predator doesn't prey on them, kamoebas enjoy free reign of the swamps, only finding trouble with larger gimantis specimens.

Cool!
So what’s this universe’s version of Skull Island like given that the Death Jackals and Psychovultures are on Monster Island? Is it more like the 1933 and 2005 versions?
