Description

The crew of the York was for already six days, almost around the clock, busy with the preparations.
While the York was near the Cerberus station, some fighters and shuttles patrolled on the edge of the solar system,

in case the Cerberus cruiser should arrive sooner than expected.

As a soldier and biotic, Shepard was best suited for the front line, but little useful for the current preparations.
While the XO took over most of the work with the co-ordination of the crew, the captain used the time and

trained the melee with several groups, in the event that they could incapacitate the cruiser and would be able to board the ship.

Shepard had already made that day several training sessions with different groups. After the end of the last session she wanted to meet for dinner with her old comrade Caleb in the canteen.

Since the training had worn her out and there was still time left, she wanted to go to her quarters to change and rest a bit.

In her quarters, Kayla saw that the daily reports had already arrived. She quickly made a coffee and began to go through the reports.
Most of the teams were well on schedule and were already finished or close before.
The sensor buoys were hidden along the outer asteroid field and ready for use. The crew aboard the Cerberus station was able to get the kinetic barriers up and running,

although not with full performance. Despite the damage of the station, two of the launching ramps using medium range rockets could also be repaired.

Unfortunately there were still difficulties with the drive of the freighter.
In the worst case, it would have been necessary to be towed to its target point, but then wouldn’t have a chance to reduce the distance to the cruiser in an emergency before the drive would be overloaded.

The Cerberus fighter made additional problems. Only  three of the ten fighters ...

When Kayla opened her eyes, she needed a moment to orient herself. Obviously, she was dropped off while reading the reports.

A look at the clock showed that a few hours passed. On a second glance she realized that she wanted to meet Caleb already an hour ago.
Shepard had found only bad sleep lately. Whenever she came to rest her thoughts circulated either around the closer confrontation with Cerberus or

around all the missing aboard the Normandy. The lack of sleep and the strenuous training had obviously taken their toll.
The captain got quickly ready and made her way to the mess. But after only a few steps Caleb came along the corridor.

When he saw her, he couldn’t resist a slightly malicious grin. Shepard was clearly embarrassed. However, both knew each other long enough and

it wasn’t the first time that she had missed a meal.
Even before Kayla had the chance to apologize, Cal presented her the content of the box, he carried. After waiting for some time in the canteen,

he already had such a clue and asked the cook to pack two generous portions.

A loud rumble from Shepard's stomach broke the silence. The two returned to Shepard's quarters and ate first.

Over a beer they wallowed some time in common memories.
When Cal discovered the photo of Kayla and an Asari, he was a bit surprised. He remembered that Shepard was always open-minded to aliens,

but especially the Asari were always somehow suspicious to her.
"Things change," Shepard replied with a shrug and started to tell Caleb of Liara and the others.

With my writing speed I'd say it would a task for my next life.
To be honest the images was already finished for a long time, but the writing ...
But I'm happy you like it.
It's not the captain's cabin aboard the Normandy, but that should not mean it must be clean place.
Some mementos make the room much more comfortable.

I just hope I can quickly finish the cerberus intermezzo and go back to the search.

I agree!  Clutter and mementos make a room look 'lived in' and real.

It's sometimes terrible to see how some developers "decorate" living rooms in games.

Very nice render.  I really like the custom, unzipped hoody.

Thanks a lot.
Opening the hoody took more time than intended, but I like the result too.
