Dead End Thrills is awesome .
I was aware of some of the reviews when I picked it up; I can't say they're wrong on many points (linearity, meh combat, excessive ledge jumping, clunky combo interface, etc.). But I really am a sucker for scifi/futuristic settings, as well as for strong female protagonists, so I got it anyway, and don't regret it. It's fun, beautiful, and occasionally interesting.
That said, I got waylaid at about 25% of the way through by a wildfire that forced us to evacuate our house Tuesday evening... We're able to go back home tonight, but will have lots to do on our return, and I'm due to publish a new Beyond chapter and have 75% complete art for it, so maybe I'll get back to it sometime next week!
P.S.: The #Sci-Fan-Horror icon and themes have always been weird, lol. It's a great group, but you got me...

Gah, sorry to hear that. =/ I hope you can resume normal life without much trouble. And yeah, DET has great pictures. They're inpiring, I mean to use them for reference on exciting camera angles. I downloaded a bunch. XD

Thanks, I think we're going to be good . We had time to grab the computers and accessories and numerous external drives (all our files, pictures, music, movies, etc. are digital) and 2 dogs, so if it had burned, eh, you move on. We want to move anyway, lol. Like you said, the biggest problem was the disruption to normal life and uncertainty of when we would know one way or the other.
You totally nailed it; what DET does that is so unique is find the most amazing camera angles. I'll spin the camera around taking shots forever and never get that angle. Alas.

I'm looking forward to playing this game, I think Nilin is going to be a great addiction to list of favourite game characters of mine.
