Description

I've wanted to try drawing in the art style of Sonic Riders for a while now but I wasn't really sure what character I wanted to draw in this style, but finally today I said to myself, "Screw it, I'm drawing Fang in this style."

So I've seen Fang adapted into the style of Riders a couple times now, all of the adaptations of him I've seen are really good, but I I still wanted to try making my own.

So I thought to myself about what kind of Extreme Gear Fang would use had he entered the EX World Grand Prix and his Airbike, the Marvelous Queen, instantly came to mind. so I figured I'd give him a bit of an old-school biker vibe. I imagine he would have entered for with similar motivations to that of the Babylon Rouges of not necessarily wanting to win but rather to bag the treasure of Babylon garden.

I stumbled across a funny piece of trivia while looking for good references for this, turns out Jet might actually be named after Fang. apparently before Sega changed his name from Nack to Fang they had also considered the name Jet, and with how the two of them share a lot of similarities (Over confident/cocky thieves whom often bite off more than they can chew who also use flying machines to get around due to a lack of speed on foot) it's not that far out of the realm of consideration that Sega might have reused the name.

Anyhoo, I had a lot of fun drawing this, I'm totally gonna come back to this style in the near future, funnily enough, it reminds me a lot of the Puyo Puyo art style, but that does make sense since they're both Sega owned franchises.
