As it's now April 1st in Japan, the Pokémon anime is now 16 years old! On this day in 1997, sixteen years ago, the first episode of the Pokémon anime aired in Japan. The episode started with Ash receiving Pikachu and leaving on his journey. Since then, almost 800 episodes have aired, as have 15 movies, featuring Ash as he travels through multiple regions with his companions, capturing Pokémon and battling Gym Leaders. i remember this episode. ash and his pokemon were stuck in a cave while brock and misty were in a spa along with team rocket. i also remember there was a music video of ash and his pokemon that touched my heart.

my first episode of pokemon was the very first airing of the very first episode. i remember watching it before going to school and loving Pikachu... of course the moment Charmander appeared episodes later he kicked Pikachu out of the #1 spot for my fav pokemon.

My first episode.... I barely remember now, but I think it was "Ash Catches a Pokemon". As for my favorite episode.... gosh, I have a few but since Misty is my favorite character "Princess Versus Princess" and "The Misty Mermaid" stick out in my memory. I also like "The Problem with Paras" because the "character of the day" had the same name as me and I also liked "Lights, Camera, Quacktion!" because I enjoyed seeing a female trainer with my favorite Pokemon, Raichu. I already said my favorite character is Misty, and my favorite Pokemon is Raichu (with Keldeo now being a close second favorite for beingvoiced by the amazing Vic Mignonga) but I can't say I have a favorite "anime" because I consider it all ONE anime; the generation doesn't matter to me, I've enjoyed it all from the beginning.
