Reminds me of the village found in The Time Machine, 2002

Okay here goes These are just my points, someone else my not agree.
I like the overall arrangement of shapes, but you might want to try to push some of the mountains further back with atmospheric perspective to increase the depth of the image. It is a bit flat to look at.

The title is cliff village, but the village is really hard to see in these image, I would make it the focal point of the image and use the most contrast in that area. What pops out mostly in this is the lava, I know it was mentioned in the brief, but I still think the village should be the most important part of the painting. And I think more detail in the village would be nice as well. You could for example add some reflected light from the lava to described the shapes and details better.

I had problems painting rocks and mountains, but then I was given the tip to use hard edge brushes at 100% opacity and flow, that really help me. It looks like you have the same problem, the mountains don't really feel like mountains, the edges are too soft. I really liked this tutorial, [link] and his rock brushes.

The blue sky color is a bit too monotonous I think. I would add more hue variation also to the clouds.

The paraglider in the foreground looks doomed, is there anyway he will survive? Just though of the story in the image. And I think he takes too much of the focus from the village.

The perspective of the bridge in the background as well as the distant paragliders look a bit out of perspective.

Anyways, hope there is something you can use.

Thank so much for you views!! I wish I had the week all over again. The brushes are great I tried to find some but didn't get anything that useful. I tried to sharpen up the edges and get some more subtle coulor shifts in the sky. I've added some more reflective light to my huts, hope they can be made out a bit better now. As for my paraglider, he should be ok. I want him coming in low over some cliff so that the heat from the lava doesn't lift him passed his village. I know it can still be better but I fell to get it right, I would have to start again. Thanks for the crit they are always welcome and the brushes to!!
