Hello Gudubara,
I really love this picture, look exactly like my cat when he was neutered.
For a cat who lost his testicles, he is tripping balls!
Some humans also have a funny face ("emergence reactions") after ketamine anesthesia (especially when ketamine is mixed with volatile anaesthetics like halothane, desflurane and sevoflurane).
Some fun also occur when ketamine is mixed with fentanyl and it's derivatives.
Cute picture!
Best regards K.

Oh, I used to have a cat. He had such a cute face, like this one. Then a trunk rolled over him, and his face was smashed.

Way to go, doc! Love the angle and the fact he isn't looking into the camera... Very nice (and adorable!). I tried getting big eyes like that in my cat pics... quite hard XD

Well, it makes a good anaesthesia, especially given the fact that it doesn't depresse the respiratory and cardiac systems. As a anaesthesic it is not stronger or less stronger than the gaseous one, its just different. They can both provide a deep or a superficial anaesthesia depending on the dosage applied.
About it being used on cats, well, that's the original (and legal) use for it. It is also quite commonly used for horses and for wild animals.

He does look like, doesn't him?
It is a horse tranquilizer (and a cat tranquilizer and a lion tranquilizer, and so on) but that is a question of dosage, it can be used on animals of every sizes, you just have to use the right dose.
Humans just discovered that when used in small doses, not enough to put them to sleep, it can give them some "funny" side effects, allucinatory side effects mostly. But like everything, high doses can kill you (to some people it doesn't take much to be lethal, just like any anaesthesic). Regarding other species, I've seen more animals die under gaseous anaesthesia than ketamine anaesthesia.

that's bad...
I have the most calm and patient dog in the world, I believe. She gets along with everything (except the garbage truck). The other one is a bit nuts and was the first one but given time she got used to the others. The cats get along fine with each other (the younger one likes to follow the other) and ok with the dogs (they are curious about each other but keep an healthy distance).

I wouldn't be smiling like that after losing my testicles. But his glance is amazing. I'm on the Just Animals' contest against a great great shot.

LOLOL Yeah, he sure looks like he is going to faint with the shock.
Well, in fact, by then I'm not sure he realised what had happened to him. Poor cat.
