Description well, here is an update of my painting... wow, I didn't think I would get this far in less then a month. In three weeks and a 30X50 oil painting using glazing. I am still gonna work on it more, but critique is tomorrow. I will try to make this piece into something I will like. By no means is it done yet, still need to add color and rpaint over things and glaze more and fix the water. I will upload the finished piece as soon as I can.

This is very incredible. It surprises me that this work doesn't have as many favorites as I'd expect it to have. You are an excellent artist. I truly love the vibrant colors you use. Thats what really attracted me to this piece but then when I saw the vivid detail you put in this I was blown away. You are a truly amazing artist. I congratulate you on what you've accomplished here.

thank you very much. It has become one of my most favorite pieces that I have made as time pasess by. It is a shame that I don't have the resources to get a professional photograph of this gigantic piece that would really show the richness of the colors and the smalle details. Anyways... thank you for your kind comments, greatly appreciated.

I love that you're posting these in-progress shots. It's really fun to compare them. Though I still think you're crazy for doing something so huge.

LOL, you know, it was only tough because I had to paint a forest are... if it was a figure or something more minimal like my next piece, it goes by very fast. I repainted a lot of areas of this piece and that is why it has taken forever. I think that I will paint a bird nest right next to the boy who is ontop of the tree holding the bird. kinda showing his innocence. I will try to have 2 more finished for the next crit.... what were the days that we were supposed to sign up for, I can't remembeer... I also missed your piece since you took it down before I could see it. I overslept, my alarm didn't go off and my mom didn't wake me up... I woke up and I was like Oh CRAP@!!!! I am going to your page right now to see if you posted your piece.

I haven't scanned my piece yet and my scanner is being a butt so I can't now anyway. I was thinking of waiting to post it until I finish its companion portrait, though.

I really like the idea of the nest near the kid. Wait, two more pieces this size for the next crit? Wha...?! And I wondered where you were that morning! All of a sudden you appeared after the break, so I thought you were just hiding so your piece wouldn't steal the whole spotlight from us all.

I think the signups were for the 7th & 21st or the 14th & 28th. I'm doing the latter, though I'm hoping to have one done and another started by then. Mine are just small watercolor/gouache and multiliner pieces, so they don't tell too long once I get going.

looking really good glazing with oils must take forever! haha. I think i might exaggerate the fore shortening on the moms hand just a liiittle smidge, just to emphasize her pointing. It's working how it is, i think it might give it a little but more energy though. Just an idea, i know youre not done yet. Keep at it, its looking really good

thanks... yeah, glazing takes a long long long time, unless you use galkyd medium which will dramatically dry the glaze in a matter of minutes under the sun. probaly like an hour or so. thcker paint varies from like 2 hours if it is dark or 4 hours if it is white (color pigmentation). so not that bad, but glazing for me is the best solution to make things look realistic giving it depth and controlled saturation with gradual adjustments instead of the traditional accidental application of oils. the hand I will think about... now my focus is trying to render the figures and the water to a satisfactory level of finish.
