Z-Brush sculpt for weekly challenge here - [link] I took about 15-20 hoursUnfortunately I were not fitting in time so some details are unfinished.

He didn't made it by hand, he used a 3d making software called zbrush.

Wow. That is very stunning. If you rigged it up and offered downloads of it, I would be very interested. I've been looking for a good sculpt to use for pose references for my dragons.
Perhaps even taking it to a sculpture company and have models produced. I really think it would sell to artists and dragon lovers everywhere.

I learned in one book about basics, but it's in russian. 
But there's a lot of good free video tutorials on Pixologic site pixologic.com/ , and in youtube . I think it's great and easiest way to begin sculpting and you may find what you need
it's so easy and intuitive (and most important it's free!) so you need no tutorials to make something with it, may be you should try it before zbrush
