wow i love this sometimes i have to remind myself that none of this is real. it still makes me sad, though, that people devalue themselves enough to try and kill themselves. I think you really set the mood for this picture and i don't mind the noise.

The noisiness is great, but I also think you should do a..not so noisy one, don't know the word for ahaha. I really like this though, I did a makeup like this once, but they were fresher.

Oh, yes, though I don't have one exactly like this without the noise (it's made with the camera, I think the iso was like at 400 ^^)
Though I do have other pics of this makeup with the iso at 100 which makes the grain pretty soft ^^ !
Thank you !! I started trying to do scabing ones...but gosh it's really hard. I saw a lot of reference pics... Like razor blades are so thin (thats probably what they use) so they leave a very fine scab/scratch i'm still wondering how to actually make them...like uber tinny...

I use a safty pin and wax. Very small ones. I did this silly piece on my arm. It had a bunch of little cuts and said "YOUR NAME 
But I'm most certainly not as experienced as you, but I just thought I'd share with you what I do :].

Hmm hmm I use wax and small pins or a really small....objects....but... See I don,t think i should use wax to achieve what I want. Wax leaves a bump. I want the scars....I think...it should be latex mixed with something...hmm

if you just smoothed out a large enough area around where you want the wound to be (large enough, read thin enough) and just leave a bit more elevation in the center you could probably use a real razorblade to cut down into the wax. get a toothpick or something with a really small point tip and just dab the blood into it. it would be easier to blend afterwards and if the wound itself is actually depressed a little bit you wont have to worry about taking off too much of the blood when you clean it up around the edges.
worth a try dear.
and if it helps, deeper cuts are usually wider anyway. the skin separates, sort of runs away from the open wound. they also get much redder after the swelling goes down and sort of crinkle at the edges.

if you gave it a try i can almost guarantee it'll look more along the lines of what you're going for. having had many a wound just like that, a razor is the only thing that'll make a realistic cut. cuts like that dont bleed a lot, either, when they are real deep so being a little minimal in that area wouldnt be horrible.
take a couple practice hits and send 'em around. see what reactions you get. it's all about personal preference in the end, what's aesthetically pleasing isnt always whats accurate but it certainly helps, if you're serious about improving, to check it out.
keeping in mind, of course that i have absolutely no knowledge of special effects make-up.
you can blame me if it goes horribly askew.

Hmm its quite easy though, I use lightroom and photoshop. With the new brush option in lightroom 2 it makes it a lot easier..I take the brush andd I think I use the brightness option, and of course I put it to the far left (make it darker) and then I go with the brush and I go over the white ^^ Then when i'm done I go on photoshop and fix all what didnt get black and voilà!
