Description After the Downsized Lois and her friends slipped into the secret toymaker's workshop, they found out that they were being copied and marketed as toys to the rest of the world. I had this idea bite me in the brain the other day, and I figured I'd use it to help me through a boring Monday. It's a little like those doppelganger pics I've done - I like that sort of thing. I also like the idea of the downsized people going on some sort of adventure outside of their city.

Lois is the property of Seth MacFarlane.
"Downsizing" is an Alexander Payne film.

Neat! I'm sure you're familiar with how they did that in Futurama. I brought the idea back in one of my fanfictions, with Morgan having a copy made of herself -Β futurama-madhouse.net/fanart/g…

That to me looks like the most realistic way of how the tech would work.

I really think something like that in real life would be useful for science.

I love that whole concept, that the person would have the gloves and shoes, and the visor. In that story of mine her robot rode and ant into a huge ant colony, and had a teeny, tiny a-bomb in her backpack.

Another great piece of work! Love this idea! Love the thoughts of them leaving and things they could encounter outside the safety of their city! Like perhaps if they were mistaken for dolls and packed up and shipped off and bought! So many different possibilities and options!

I think that would have spruced up the movie more. One of my ideas was to have a bunch of people do "back alley shrinkings" from a van to make money off of refugees...

Well, just the side story about how the Vietnamese gal was found half dead in a TV box was better than the film itself.

Gulliver63 In reply to tinyjohn45 [2018-04-17 18:28:59 +0000 UTC]

I was too, and I still hope it leads to more of these movies coming out. As I've told other people, it's a good movie with some good actors and some good social commentary in it. But if you're expecting "Guardians of the Galaxy," you'll feel let down. There was very little giant/tiny interaction.

Yeah, sadly that was the truth. And I didn't see it in the theater because the only showing was 14 miles to the south of us - I'm kind of glad I waited for Red Box.

I hear ya! I'll definitely give it a watch but as a whole I think it was a let down to the community who was expecting so much more from it!

Gulliver63 In reply to tinyjohn45 [2018-04-17 22:06:36 +0000 UTC]

I still think it's worth seeing for some of the social commentary, but I wouldn't pay a bunch for it. Rent it at Red Box for next to nothing.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not really sure how to comment on this latest addition to your gallery.Β  Of course, I get the astonishment of mini-Lois at discovering a toy copy of her.Β Β And Glen Quagmire (unless he was "downsized" also) would definitely want a Lois doll, n'yuk, n'yuk, n'yuk.Β  And if he were "downsized," he'd probably still want one!Β  BTW, the needle-nosed pliers were very well drawn.Β  Overall, a fine doppelganger portrayal of Lois.Β Β Β Β  Β

Thanks! It's one of those "big reveal" things. I also thought the same thing could be done with a regular person finding a robot copy of themselves.

Believe me, if I discoveredΒ an android copy of yours truly, I'd be raising holy Ned, after recovering from my surprise.Β  Perhaps your next pic in this "downsizing" series should have Lois and others who've had toy copies made of them confronting the maker or makers of these dolls and raising hell with them, perhaps threatening to sue.

Gulliver63 In reply to kiff57krocker [2018-04-16 20:37:46 +0000 UTC]

I was kicking around having one of those pull-strings on the back of the doll, so it could say stuff. ::chuckles::

kiff57krocker In reply to Gulliver63 [2018-04-16 20:40:54 +0000 UTC]

Now that is an original idea!Β  Perhaps you could show "downsized" Lois pulling the string on her toy double and hearing it talk.

First of all, thank you for emailing your doodle.Β  I really like the idea of reintroducing Doc Steinfisch to menace Lois and Marge again by creating robot doppelgangers.Β  That sounds like something that crazy Kraut would do.Β  And I'm glad you're in a doodling mood.Β  You are the speed demon of doodlers.

I liked your answer to the note I sent...sort of has a 1930's feel to it. "Just got back from the crash of the Hind helicopter." The mysterious character. Glimpsed in Egypt...spotted in Berlin. I wish I could do a whole huge comic of this. My mind raced ahead and the Marge-bot survives - but it's "evil chip" gets destroyed, and it helps Marge cook for a large church picnic.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kiff57krocker In reply to Gulliver63 [2018-04-16 21:45:04 +0000 UTC]

You may recall from my "Hind Attack" cartoon narrative, Marge and Lois had assumed that Doc Steinfisch had been hiding out in Russia, no doubt hobnobbing with Gen. Nikolai "Red Scorpion" Vlassov.Β  And perhaps both Marge and Lois could defeat their robot doubles and then reprogram them.Β  I like the idea of Marge-bot helping to cook for a church picnic.Β  I wonder what Lois would have her robot double do?

Gulliver63 In reply to kiff57krocker [2018-04-16 21:51:49 +0000 UTC]

These ideas are still floating around my brain like a miniature tornado ::laughs::Β

Yes, I remember the Hind cartoon. I'm still trying to figure out if this character was sort of changed into a half fish/half human by a botched experiment. "The master is in his water chamber - he is most comfortable in his water chamber." Or he could be like Bond's Stromberg, surrounded by a massive aquarium as he pontificates about the sea and its creatures...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kiff57krocker In reply to Gulliver63 [2018-04-16 21:55:59 +0000 UTC]

I like the idea of Steinfisch being similar to Stromberg - a guy who really likes fish.Β  You may also recall how I resurrected Dr. Steinfisch in "Captives of Dr. Steinfisch," having him fitted with a mechanical prosthetic hand after losing his real hand in the Hind crash.Β  And maybe "Steinfisch" isn't his real name.Β  Maybe because of his love of the sea and sea creatures, he gave himself this new moniker.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Gulliver63 In reply to kiff57krocker [2018-04-16 22:09:08 +0000 UTC]

Well, I chose the name because of how deadly the stonefish actually is. You step on that thing and you're dead within about 15 minutes. What a hell of a guy - half fish, and a prosthetic hand! Maybe he could have the fish eyes...

It would be really hilarious if he had some innocent beginning, somewhere in Europe. Probably a kid who was picked on, brilliant from an early age.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kiff57krocker In reply to Gulliver63 [2018-04-16 22:12:39 +0000 UTC]

I still like the identification of Dr. Stenifisch with James Bond's Stromberg.Β  But he's your original character, so do with him what you will.Β  And I also like the idea of his having been picked on as a child.Β  That's a backstory common to many comic book villainsΒ such asΒ the Scarecrow from the Batman comic books and graphic novels.Β  And in our hands, he makes for a pretty good villain to menace Lois and Marge.
