Description I don't know about anyone else, but I really wanted to see Leela find her people and her real parents. Again, like other projects, this started as a doodle on my desk calendar at work - some fun things have been happening on that thing. If she didn't find her parents this way, it might have been fun for this to have been a dream sequence of some kind. I realize that if she had actually joined her people on Cyclopia that it would have killed her as a character, sort of like Larry Hagman marrying Jeannie, but it's fun to think of what might have happened if she had completed her quest. BTW, a friend at work commented that the father here looks like Liam Neeson with one eye!

Futurama is the property of Matt Groening.

nice concept. and of course, the mutant origins are more adequate to the character.

I realize that if Matt had gone that way, it wouldn't have been nearly as funny as the stuff he did in the sewer, but I like exploring these ideas for fun. I could also see this as being a dream that she'd have. This is more of what happens in my GURPS game, but she's more of a serious character there. By doing things in the sewers, Matt was able to go back on several episodes and do more storylines, like in "Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles". This was also the first time I ever drew her from a 3/4 rear view.

Thanks...it was fun, and I always like trying to come up with different story ideas. "Bicyclops Built For Two" was one of the first full episodes that I watched, and it really caught my attention. It was funny asa hell the way it ended up though...

I couldn't agree with you more mate. The whole mutant reject thing left me wanting more. The father kinda reminds me of Armand Assante from the 1997 version of the Odyssey (with one eye of course). Keep up the good work!!

I loved that Odyssey movie - you'll notice in my gallery that I have Leela as the Cyclops from that movie as well, although she's quite a bit more attractive than the one that was in there...LOL. I noticed that you like mecha as well...I enjoyed doing one called "Fight The Giants" recently, and I played around with a mecha vehicle. Mecha and anime are two things that I don't know much about, and I hate coming off looking like a fanboy when I try to draw them. Nice hearing from you, and thanks for the fav.

Oy vey...I'm blushing! I'm especially proud of my Amy on "We Rock" - she just looks so bad ass. This is so cool...I've talked with people from all over the world in the last couple of days here on DA. I see you're from Missouri...I was at Ft. Leonard Wood in 1981 and 82. I was there in January of '82 when it was minus 75 with the windchill...just wikipedia "Cold Sunday" and that's when I was there. I gotta cousin in Springfield as well.

She's unusual in this piece because I tried a 3/4 rear view for the first time...I've never drawn her this way before. I also like the body language...it's as if the parents don't know whether to believe her story or not.
