Description This is one of those projects that just came together quickly with very little planning. Actually, I slammed two ideas together - Morgan over there on the right was one of the ideas, and I decided just to put it in Mom's Hutt pad. I know this idea has been done before, but I figured I'd play with it. I ended up doing the whole thing in markers - I like that.

"I like my new decoration from the Bureaucracy - I think it adds something to the room. Hey Amy, why not sing a song for us? Brighten up the mood a bit."

I own neither of these franchises.

::Laughs:: Now when the priest tonight talked about the mothers and motherhood, I don't think Mom was who he had in mind.

Excellent!  Although at first glance I thought Mom was dancing, and really had too much to drink!

Thanks! She's definitely the only one having a good time. I thought of having Fry laugh like that creature thingee that Jabba had with him.

Oh, to me the payoff is the Morgan carbon freeze  - and of course, she's frozen with her clipboard and pen.

Uh-oh, it seems that Morgan demanded one too many forms be filled out!

Is Leela playing Bib Fortuna, or is she about to pull a Luke Skywalker on Mom?

::laughs:: She is playing a Bib - I just took that hair and wrapped it around her neck like his head thingee. She's a bit better looking than he is...

I can think of no better role for Mom than as Jabba the Hutt from the film "Revenge of the Jedi."  And Leela looks as though she's going to open an oil drum-sized can of whoop-ass on Mom.  As for Morgan the annoying bureaucrat, I think she looks better as a carbonite wall ornament, n'yuk, n'yuk, n'yuk!  As for Amy in the role of Princess Leia, she looks very good in that slave outfit.  But then again, Amy would look good in anything.  Of course, poor Fry looks pretty glum at being reduced to a slave.  Nicely done.

I envy you being able to get an idea and then to quickly sketch, color and produce a finished artwork ready for uploading on DA, whereas I when I get an idea I have to carefully plot out the drawing, often with lots of erasing, before I can even begin to ink and color it.  Sometimes it takes from two to three days before my artwork is ready for DA.

Here's a helpful tip I learned from Mike J. - he begins every pic by drawing pencil lines all over the paper, getting everything  exactly where he wants it. I've been the kind of person who just started drawing, only to discover that my person is running off the page. Mike gets a good feel for where everything is going to end up before he really begins drawing - I watched him do this in my dining room. I do a little of that nowadays - I had to do some of that yesterday with this project, as I had a poop-load of characters to squeeze in there, and they had to be squeezed in just right.

As far as speed, Mike was blown away by that too. I owe it  to my college education, which was centered in commercial art - i.e., do it fast. We had deadlines in those classes, and  we couldn't dawdle for very long. Those classes also taught us to do several thumbnails, and select the best one. I'll have to post a pic of my studio sometime, that I was in from 1983-84 - the building has since been torn down, and everything moved next door.

To do several thumbnails and choose the best one seems like a good idea - if only I had time to do something like that.

For me in these projects it's often just pencil scratches on a piece of scratch paper, the size of a large postage stamp. Or, it's electronic doodles on Sketchpad.

I know you often use sticky note pages for your doodling at work, or so you told me.  Perhaps, this weekend, I'll take a sketchpad (Lord knows, I've got a ton of them) and go out to one of three parks near where I live, stake out a picnic table and just doodle.  It may help me get back to the way I used to draw.  And who knows?  I may get some great new ideas for my DA gallery.

Oh Lord yes, that's a great idea. Broadripple Park just south of us has a special place dedicated to just that. Another great place to take a sketchpad is the art museum - Mike J and I did that. I love the coffee shop in there. And try different ways of sketching and drawing. On those days that I don't have anything going as far as projects, I'll just practice with a pen and paper.

Unfortunately, there are no art museums close to where I live.  However, I've always liked parks.  I feel more relaxed and comfortable with lots of trees and grass.  And when I'm relaxed, I tend to get more imaginative artistically.

We had a great Saturday with my daughter up in Lafayette yesterday; I dropped her car off to get its brakes repaired, and got to see some of the downtown.

It's good to have everything ready for the big event.  I only wish I could be there to share your happiness and to congratulate your daughter.  Will you at least give her my regards and congratulations in my absence?  I'd really like that.
